The limit of goods you can bring into the country without paying tax was £145 at the time you came home. This limit is being raised next month. You didn't say how much you paid.
Does your item have an international warranty? If so tell them you expect it to be honoured. If they refuse write to their head office.
If they ask again if you delared the goods at Customs simply say 'Yes' but the officer waved you through and didn't charge any duty.

Curry's again!! Now you know why I won't shop there.
The responsibility for the faulty product is Curry's and not the manufacturer. Tell them that under the Sale of Goods act you are rejecting the TV as it has an inherrent fault and you want your money back or a replacement. If you don't get it take them to the Small Claims Court.
You might want to put your problem in writing to their MD. He is:

Alternatively you could go along with Curry's and let them send the TV away for repair. Make sure you get a loan TV in the meantime if you choose this option.

The receipt counts as the warranty - & in the back of the booklet it states that "The appliance is under guarantee for a period of 3 years from the delivery date.
Further down it also states "aforesaid conditions do not affect guarantee agreements made directly with the vendor ... defective appliance,,, must be brought to the Service Centre for replacement/repairs ...

Before going to the retailer have a word with your local Trading Standards dept. They may be able to help you and may have prior knowledge of this retailer.
It seems pointless taking copies of the Sale of Goods Act with you. They should already know this and seem to ignore it. Simply tell them you want a replacement under the act.

I doubt you would get a replacement from Lidl they only stock things for one week until it sells out.0

visited doctor that is a waist of time he is on site He not talk English & makes you sign to say you will pay £45 each person for few tablets & rehydrating fluid. B4 he even seen to you. He not tell you what is wrong & the bill is charged to your room. He not ask any questions offer any help not look at you medical insurance, just charges bill to your room.
I spent 6 days in bed, ill throughout the whole holiday. Only there for 1 week. Joined by my boyfriend who was experiencing the same symptoms as myself.
We arranged a meeting with the hotel manager & explained how ill we became & he refunded the medical costs.
I called the my travel resort representative & explained how seriously ill we had became & asked to meet with him. I had to wait till the day we went home & was just told to fill in a complaint form. No compassion was offered or asked how we were.
I kept a diary of all events & people we spoke to concerning complaint and every event that took place. E mailed who I could as soon as I got home as I feel we contracted salmonella,
This was all back in December & now it march I have only just received a standard letter from my travel stating that due to no stool samples being sent to a pathology laboratory for analysis in Egypt .There nothing they can do. So it more than likely could have been caused by ‘sheer excitement’!!! It near on impossible to find any direct email to complain to so here one. She in the my travel legal dep. So keep it at hand you will need it. I found the whole my travel team so unhelpful and just want to fob you off & ignore you. There no customer service & they just want to you’re your money they make you feel like your nothing. Do not book with them!!! I used to use them a lot but have totally lost faith in the company now it so insulting.
At the end of the holiday I found out that another 4 couples had come down ill & spent holiday stuck in there room . All with symptoms the same as mine & my boyfriend, but they just thought it Egypt that what happens. This is not a matter to be left if you ill complain! Do not leave it.
So if you have already booked with my travel here a little check list
Take plenty of medication, if you are ill document everything, complain to the manager, complain to the my travel holiday rep fill in the complaint form .e mail complaints & comments off when you get home. Don’t just be ignored by the company if you research on the internet you will find that you have so many rights & intituled to claim ur money back by law, as long as you have completed all areas asked e.g. the correct procedures.
I feel that I did, but the only loop whole now is that I didn’t give a stool sample, but was not asked for 1 or advised to have 1. So now I will carry on with claim & take it to trading standards & even small claims court. The hotel dishes up nasty school food that makes u ill. May I suggest you read what you have posted to this group. It is difficult to follow due to grammatical and spelling errors but I think I have got the gist of your problem.
As you've not had any success with My-Travel I would suggest you contact ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) and ask them if they can help you. Failing this go straight to the Small Claims Court.

Are mobile phones purchased over the phone exempt from the distance selling cooling off period?
My friend purchased a new mobile over the phone from 3 on Sunday for her granddaughter. Phone arrived yesterday but my friend didn't realise that texts and wap access where not included in the monthly plan. Her granddaughter has run up an extra £5 in charges in 1 day!
As she now believes she was mis sold this contract, does she have any rights under distance selling? And if so, what are her options?

Your friend wasn't mis-sold, she didn't read the details of the contract.
All is not lost. She has 7 days to return the phone for a refund. Tell her to phone 3 and ask for return instructions.
