Appreciate your thoughts Art,
Things have moved on a bit. I am in the process of taking them to court online. Would you put the claim down as £995, the cost of the TV and let the court knock me back for wear n tear? I had the manager of Comet phone me up offering me £75 off a new TV or £45 towards the cost of the repair. I rejected both offers,
Thank you Art
Yes, put in your claim for the full amount plus any expenses you have incurred. If it gets as far as court the registrar will make any adjustments to your claim. Chances are as soon as Comet realise you are serious you will get a call offering a repair.

I recently bought a coast dress for £115. I wore it to a wedding, hot weather did sweat a bit(sorry), I followed the advice on the garment and had the dress professionally dry cleaned. The dry cleaners cleaned the garment but remarked on the underarm stain and said it had stained and they refused to dry clean it again as the stain would become worse.
I quickly returned to Coast store at House of Fraser and asked them for a refund as I expected to wear the dress more than once and did not think that my sweat was highly toxic!!
Coast sent the dress of to their head office for analysis and I was informed today that they do not hold any responsibility with what has happened to the dress and I will not get a refund:mad:
What am I to do now. The dress cost £115. Please please can I have some advice!
Thanks

You didn't say how long you have had the dress. Write to the company, copy to their head office and also House of Fraser. Send recorded delivery. If you paid by credit card send a copy to your card company also.
Tell them you are rejecting the dress as 'not fit for purpose' and if you do not get a refund within 10 days you will instigate proceedings in the Small Claims Court.
