Worth trying LG to see if they will help as a goodwill gesture but they have no legal responsibility.

Did you pay by credit card? If so contact the CC company as they are "equally and severally liable" under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.

Not "equally" but "jointly and severally" liable.

I think everyone gets the jist,

Equally; - in an equal manner, alike, impartially

Jointly; - in a joint manner, together, unitedly, in concert.

No need to be so damned pedantic, the point I was making is still valid, the difference,(not worthwhile), was not worth making the post for, but then I know your agenda!

    Hi everyone.

A bit of advice if possible please. I am about to start making a claim to Argos and copying it to the credit card company under section 75.

My Servis washing machine main programme circuit board has blew apart and is not repairable as parts not available. I have a report from a reputable local appliance centre confirming this and in there opnion this should not have happened under normal circumstances.

It is 2 years old and costed me £240 but was Discounted by £150. to obtain a similar model I would have to pay more now. What would you suggest I ask for?

    Thanks

Ask for the full price you paid - £150.

Argos have a right to make a deduction for the use you have got from the item if they want to so if they offer £150 take it.

Sorry Art. I think I misrepresented myself there. I paid £240. It was reduced from £350. Obviously due to the reduction I was able to buy a better specification eg bigger drum. Time delay etc., plus additional 4 years parts as standard by manufactueur.

Is worth while putting this in letter or shall I just ask for £240.

    Thanks

Yes, ask for £240. You can try suggesting that as they sold you the 4 year parts cover they have to honour this. I think they will say this is the manufacturer and not them. See what they say.

Thanks Art. To be honest the parts warranty is useless. The local euronics centre can only get 4 types of geniune parts for servis. They went bust in Oct. They have actually stated not repairable on the report due to this.
