About £45. Plus £50 hearing fee if (unlikely) they do not settle before.

By the way, if you paid by credit card, try a section 75 claim against them as well. And if you do issue, name your credit card company as a joint defendant pursuant to s. 75 Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Thats a reasonable amount, and it was paid on a credit agreement by direct debit in my dads name ( its my laptop but i was 17 at the time so could not have credit agreements , so i put money into my dads account and they deducted it, so on the letter i used my dads name so they could not use the loophole that i didnt technically buy it) so i dont suppose theres anything else i can use in this instance?

Thank you for your email dated 14th april 2009

I was concerned to learn that your HP 9572 notebook has developed a fault, for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused I would like to offer my apologies.

Whenever one of our products develops a manufacturing fault within the guarantee period, we will offer the remedy of a free repair, exchange or refund. This is dependent upon the age of the product and the nature of the defect.

On this occasion, due to your Product Support Agreement you are entitled to unlimited repairs, we believe that a free of charge repair is the appropriate solution. Should an engineer deem the product to be beyond economical repair, an exchange will be offered. If a replacement of similar specifications is not available then a refund will be considered.

In regards to the time scale for the repair, under your terms and conditions of your extended warranty, we have a maximum of 6 weeks to repair the notebook, if the 6 weeks expire you are entitled to a replacement under your Coverplan Product Support. Please call our repair agents The TechGuys on 0844 800 60 20 for more information regarding your existing fault.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us, I trust the above information clarifies your enquiry and once again apologies for the frustration that this has caused. "

I received this email from them today after my letter finally got to the right department. Not very happy!

they have refused my claim on the basis that im paying them for the extra warranty!

I replied rather frustrated, re iterated my point and hope it gets through!

    regards josh

I think I would be inclined to write to them and tell them that another repair is not acceptable and you will be instigating a Small Claims Court claim immediately.

    Regards,

    i kinda got somewhere!

i rang the cs number and the man was actually very polite, nice and helpful. He seemed very honest when he said he understand how i feel and he would do the same, so he rang all the people and basically told me this, they have a policy that if a repair takes 21 and is not completed ie i have my laptop back, then i get a free replacement, and seeing as thats on saturday he said, its easier if you were to wait until then and see if i get my laptop back, if not then i have a no problem path to a new laptop which in the end is all i wanted, he then said that if im unlucky enough to get it back tomorow ( the courior doesnt work on saturday) then i should call them again, quote a number hes given me and hes put on the screen the recommendation that they approve my request, he said it isnt sure fire but its a very good chance to a replacement.

So im quite pleased, ill know by tomorow evening what will happen!

    thanks alot Art and Tozer
