Hiya
Just popped on here whilst I eat my lunch (scrambled eggs and b.beans with cheese) Mr TM has taken his gadgets (that's cadets to you lot) flying today, they were skiing last night (dry ski slope, none of the white stuff here) So, I'm here with the kids, trying to entertain them as well as decorate the dining room. Did some glossing last night but thee is a huge run in the door this morning  It deffo wasn't there last night but I can manage a quick sand and second coat. I'm currently chucking cheapo white paint at the yakky blown vinyl before I put the coloured coat on. It's taking ages
So today, WM is on, TD will go on in a minute and another wash on. BM is on - trying a rapid loaf as forgot to put it on last night. DW about to finish too. Made loads of bol sauce yesterday so we can all have that for tea. Other than that, no cleaning or tidying done. Major clean can wait until decorating is finished because I'm not dusting only to create it all again in a couple of days relaying carpets etc.
OK. lunch finished and my roller awaits (small furry beasty on a stick, that is, not large powerful throbbing beasty with a wheel at each corner, unfortunately)
Bye

Heard a hilarious Gordon Ramsey and OS joke on the radio today (one of his ads) As it was OS related - I thought I would share it with you!
Gordon: What are you doing?
Little Girl: Putting out a mince pie for Santa
Gordon: Where did you get it?
L Girl: a Supermarket.
Gordon: !A SUPERMARKET!!!???? You know homemade tastes better!
L Girl: But Mum said........
Gordon: Oh. Thats all right then???? Well if you can't be bothered, don't expect Santa to be bothered.............
I was laughing in the car, all the way home. And I know what I'm telling my kids!!0 -
Afternoon
Well-where do I startI think we can officially be called the "animal slayers" now as DD's 2 week old hamster died this morning  She is not here either but at friends, so she doesnt even know yet! Anyways, went to Greenwich pet shop (where we bought her from) and took the hamster with us and had a quiet word with the manager expressing our concerns etc. She was very helpful and looked at hamster and said it looked like wet tail-not a good thing for hamsters. She suggested a gerbil instead and said they were friendler and last 3-4 years-so i said to us maybe 4-6 weeks  DD will be back at 6'ish, but sure she will be ok. Also bought her the Bratz 2006 annual to soften the blow a bit
So, Im totally knackered and supposed to be going out for late posh lunch at 3pm with BIL and wife. My back/hips are killing me as i refused to use wheelchair this morning and use my crutches instead and it half killed meWill have to pop a couple of pain killers in next half hour so they kick in before we go
Its freezin here.

Afternoon all,
Just got back from doing a bit of christmas shopping as its not as cold as yesturday. Took me ages to find anywhere to park and then all the shops were heaving which made me really stressed and now i've been left with a banging head. Told O/H thats were not buying anything else now and if we are he goes!
My friend phoned last night and said she and her O/H have finally decided to go their seperate ways. I think its really sad as they have only been married 3 years. I think me and O/H are a dying breed, we've been married 15yrs but all our friends don't last two ticks.
Roast chick in oven for dinner followed by jam sponge & custard.
Have a good evening

We have managed 20 years but not sure how!
DH is in his pre Christmas mutter about waste of money - waste of food etc. etc.
Still last year he did say well done for making it a nice Christmas for DDs even though it was not his thing!
Think I have managed to talk him into going to Christingle tomorrow so he may cheer up a bit."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon all (although it feels like evening) - No snow here today - although there was a light covering about 10pm last night - enough for DD and her friends to run down the drive making footprints!!!
PP - sorry about your DD's hamster - hope she takes the news well.
Had a really non OS day today - DD's friends stayed over last night and the HM pizzas went down really well....as did the birthday cake (I'm ashamed to say it's the first birthday cake I've ever made her......my mother normally buys what ever the latest trend in cakes is but this year DD asked me to make one of my "yummy choccy cakes"..so I did - it turned out really well too!) They ate their way through loads of garlic bread, choccy and crisps too but did all go to sleep by 11pm. An early start with a box of brekkie cereal gone and half a loaf of bread (shop brought as I didn't think they'd try HM stuff). Then a trip into town to spend some money (rather than a party bag I gave them a couple of pound each to spend)......Then lunch out (although DD said she'd have preferred a HM lunch but knew her friends were expecting some fast food tatt!)
House is reasonably tidy - washings washing, picked up some nice ripe avacado's for tea with some nice crispy bacon in HM bread.
Tomorrow will be mostly spent trying to make a dragon for DD for Xmas.....all the fabrics cut and I've made a start but it's going to take ages (will post a pic when it's done). Toad in the hole has been requested for tea with roasties and parsnips, I think I can manage that!
Hope you've all had a great weekend."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi everyone, :hello:
We're having a quiet day at home today. OH is "on call" this weekend (he works in IT), so has to stay quite close to his PC in case he needs to "dial into work" to try to sort out a problem, before driving all that way to fix the problem. It does make sense, honest(well, saves him have to drive miles to find out that he's not needed).
He's just watched the Scotland v New Zealand rugby match, whilst I've been busy ironing and putting the WM on over and over again. Hopefully I should be able to keep on top of it now.
Hopefully we are popping over to Ikea later tonight. We want a table and chairs and they've got a perfect one for not much money. They didn't have it in stock when we were in Birmingham last weekend, so we're hopefully off to Nottingham tonight. Bit of a trek, but we haven't seen anything else that we like. Sorry, that I like! Also, OH won't run the risk of being called so late and the store is open until 10pm. Perfect.
I made the fatal mistake of going shopping in Tesco at about lunch time. I think that people think that it's Christmas tomorrow. People stressing out because they can't find their OH/DD/DS. Threatening "never to come shopping with X again". I'm normally ok, but even I was doing some deep breathing down the fruit and veg aisles. WHY do people stand in the middle of the shop/aisle chatting to their friend in a really busy supermarket. Trolley rage came very close!
Anyway, tea tonight will be a quick pasta and fresh pesto - we treated ourself to some from the lovely deli in town today. However, I'll have to have a try at making it myself soon.

Hi all
PP sorry about hamster, it is going to be very hard for your child. We had 2 gerbils and they were adorable, we called Mario and Luigi (as in the Super Mario brothers) even though they were two girls - my children adored them and cared for them very well. It was very sad when they died at a few months of distance one from the other, age 3 and 3+. Incidentally, we bought them at the big pet superstore near ASDA in Charlton (Greenwich) is it there that you got yours? They are usually alright and quite caring with their animals from what I can see (although some of the sales people are gormless teens!).
Feeling better today, went to yoga then to craft class and I have nearly finished the fabric bag I made for my mum for Christmas, the outside is the remains of a shirt of my husband's and the lining is the remains of a dress of mine. It looks very good and I am very proud, I am sure mum will like it!
Now just pottering around on the internet and thinking about leaving my job - how many nice things I can do once I don't have to go there every morning - including cleaning my home in peace without being in a rush or having to pay a cleaner!
Going to make stir-fry veg and tofu on rice now, and then having a game of chess with my son who, pot-head or no pot-head, is probably going to destroy me on the chessboard, as he is quite sharp (*proud mummy impersonation*:D ).
Love to all
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
This afternoon I went to my local Savacentre, and in Argos I found a Cordon Blue slow cooker reduced to £11.49 less an £1.00 argos voucher I had in my purse = £10.49
Then into Sainsbury's where there was a Morphy-Richards Cool Wall breadmaker for £35.99 less my Nectar points = £22.50
So one Slow cooker plus one Breadmaker a total of £32.99 I am walking on air at the moment .Has anyone else had a great money-saving day like today
I don't care now if it snows as I have enough stuff in my cupboards to sit it out and fresh bread will not be a problem as I have my new Breadmaker. I can't wait to have a go
One very happy old gal0
