  • Too late for us re the tip about gerbils chewing everything c_q icon9.gif

As they were only sitting in the plastic wheel that the hamster used to spend hours whirling round in, daughter decided to put it on the bottom of the cage for the gerbils to play on, big mistake as it now has a huge door chewed out of it icon10.gif

However, they are great fun and very cute and now have a block of wood to excerise their teeth on icon7.gif
  • Morning all

PP - I had gerbils - fantastic little creatures. I picked a fat one and a slim one to be friends (I was only 9) 40+ little gerbils later, I think they'd been friends enough :rotfl: However, having been into our Pets at Home store, I think I'd only want the chipmunks. They are gorgeous, but totally impractical for us. I have to say, that I usually only go inthere so Ds2 can look at the animals but always think their fish look lousy too. Always dead/dying ones that they seem to leave in there for far too long.

Anyway, today will mostly be a decorating day again. It's coming along, but it always takes you ages longer than you thought  However, DS1 is going to a footy party today so I'll see if Mr TM will take DS2 with him then at least I can get a couple of hours uninterupted painting.

I was intending to make moussaka for tea, but I'll see how I feel later (back's playing up already) Must go and wrap DS1's pressie for the party and find the card. Then, if I'm covered in paint when they get home from church, I'll have a good excuse not to go :D

    Have a good day

I keep forgetting to take my tablets - does anyone have a foolproof way of remembering?

How about buying one of those pill boxes with the daily compartments in? I forget what they're called now but you can get them at the chemist, and quite often they will give you a used one for free (returns from people who no longer need them). That way you can easily see whether you've taken your dose, if like me you can mever remember whether you've actually taken any that day! :o

Again, the mobile phone reminder is good too and is something I used a lot ;)

Didnt pets at home get prosecuted for animal cruelty a couple of years ago.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest! I managed one of their stores for a while but left because of HO policies regarding animal welfare, but not before running them up a hefty vets bill by sending every animal that came in to them for treatment ;) ... I also rejected many deliveries of obviously sick animals so that didn't go down too well either when they had nothing left to sell :rotfl:

If I hadn't left when I did they would have found a way to sack me I reckon :D

Oh, I learnt the hard way too! We had a pair several years ago and their usual cage was one of those old-fashioned wire ones but DS wanted one of these fancy ones  I thought I'd chosen very carefully and made sure there was nowhere they could get a hold on to chew ... WRONG!!! ... the little hole where the water bottle slotted through became their exit, once they'd chewed it a bit bigger overnight :wall:

Unfortunately, once out of their cage, the cats decided they were fair game and became lunch (or supper!) :(

    Afternoon everyone

I'm sitting here in my dressing gown (lazy cow that I am), but I have been ironing like a mad woman. Still got plenty to go at, but I need to make sure that there's plenty of stuff to watch on tv whilst I'm doing it! Either that or find a DVD to bung in. :)

I need to make a veggie pasta sauce today, along with a bolognese sauce. All for freezing, though we might have some bolognese tonight.

We got to Ikea last night. It was so quiet at about 7.30pm! Bliss......... Anyway, we got the table and chairs that we were after, so we will now be able to entertain people without issuing them with a magazine to rest their plate on their lap. :D I suggested to OH that we use the table ourselves too. He looked appalled at first, but then realised that he could still see the tv from the table. :D It's a good job we don't have children as I imagine they'd take after OH, no matter how much whipping into shape to stay at the table I did. :)

We've also booked a cottage in the Lakes for the Feb half term. It will also be our 3 year "anniversary" during that week. We managed to find a decent cottage which has space for OH to store his mountain bike. All I'm concerned about is being within walking distance of shops for window shopping. Anyway, we need to send the deposit off for that later today to secure our booking.

Sounds like we're living the life of Riley, but we're not really. It's things that we have saved up for, so we don't feel as guilty doing it as it's not a thing that's going on the never never.

Have a good day, and I'll carry on with my ironing AGAIN :D

Yippee!! 2 kids gone, only one to deal with now and she is having a picnic on the living room carpet :D My bedroom is done, bed made for the first time in a week, the kids room is half done, the hallway is tidied, the kitchen is tidied and the worktops bleached. Just need to do the dining room now and I can start cleaning all the way through tomorrow. The school uniforms are ironed too. Just taking a short break to recharge the batteries and I'll continue this afternoon :D

Lovely to see you back CQ.

  • Hi all!!

Can anyone help me!! I have been up and about since 4.30am  I washed up last nights tea dishes, and generally tidied the lounge. I made a fry up for breakie and have popped into town to buy a birthday pressie and have washed and dried 2 loads of washing... now here's my problem - my house is an absolute wreck - seriously I can't see any floor coverings anywhere!!! I haven't got the motivation to start cleaning and tidying - but it's Sunday and I'm at work all week - so I need to get organised!!

Does anyone out there have any ideas how to give me a kick start!!!
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)
