Husband is down stairs making flapjacks and jacket pots.
Yum just fancied a jacket pot running in butter.
So thought I better cook something else while at it. The weather is horrible here and it is all foggy and frosty. And can you believe it or not that we are the only people in the road who are using a cover on car. To save having to scrape the car 1st thing in the morning. We don't use the car everyday but some of my neighbours go out to work at 5.30am
And I laugh at them LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mean or what.
Yours

Daren't turn the computer on in the morning when I need to get on with things - hence my late posting
.
Went into York early this morning and collected my missed parcel, bought a couple of books in borders - had a £5 off voucher and couldn't get one online anyway as out of stock everywhere so that's good and a bit more of birthday/christmas presents sorted and did a few other bits.
Been set building/painting this afternoon which was fun and a nice social activity too.
Popped into tescos but couldn't find any jeans that fitted - between 2 sizes right now - and didn't have 1 of the things I wanted - but got something edible for OHs birthday/christmas so not an entirely wasted trip (and had a drink in the cafe too as we went straight from set building).
Just had sausages chips and beans for dinner, but have done a load of washing today, emptied bins (and added bicarb to try and stop the smell) and started to hoover.
Need to get rid of the pile of stuff that's accumulated on the setteeand try and get an early night

Hello again
Tonight I've been into London to see a performance at the Royal College of Music and found myself sitting right in front of one of my musical heroes (opera singer)! Got chatting to her and she was lovely, so I had a fantastic evening.
Got home to smell of simmering sausage and potato casserole in SC...
Dished up portions into 3 freezer boxes and some into a bowl for my supper.
Next time I will be grilling the sausages first - today's was a "chuck everything in from scratch with some hot stock" jobby, and although it is yummy (I put some paprika in) it has a not-so-nice layer of sausage fat floating on top. Also forgot to put any wine in - but then again, all the more for the cook
Actually I'm lying about all the more for the cook, cos today's been teetotal! I have been out for several beers three times this week and am trying not to pickle my liver! (Though, for various reasons, of nine pints of beer over three days, I only paid for one pint!) I've been drinking far too much lately, mainly due to the stresses of work (it's not that I hit the bottle as an escape mechanism, just that when you find yourself still in the office at 8pm the phrase "Anybody fancy going to the pub?" seems to come almost as a reflex  )
Must go now, as I've promised myself I'll put away a huge stack of clean washing AND strip my bed before the day is out.Operation Get in Shape

OK, try this then
PRAIRIE OYSTER
1 egg yolk
2 or 3 grinds black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 ounces port (I have been known to quadruple this without ill effect)
Celery salt to taste. (if you must, bleurgh)
Slip the unbroken egg yolk into a 4 to 6-ounce wineglass, sour glass or champagne saucer glass. Season with pepper, add the Worcestershire sauce, and pour in the port. Season to taste with celery salt.
When drinking, the egg yolk should be swallowed whole.
Oh yes, and if you really want a Bloody Prarie Oyster then add a tablespoon of tomato juice (or a teaspoon of Tomato Ketchup if that is all you have to hand).
Right, have nice Sundays all.
Oh, and could someone please wake me up in time for the Archers Omnibus? Thank you.My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Good morning everybody.
6.30am on a Sunday morning is not healthy. Esp when Google says its -2 c outside.
Hopefully the cheap £1 screen cover I brought from Poundland will stop my windscreen being frosted up this morning. Otherwise it's going to be newspaper next time I'm working an early.
Made myself a cup of coffee to go in my new travelling mug to help keep me warm on the way to work.

Saw the gorgeous 10week baby (not broody at all) spent about 6 hrs there and had fish and chips bought for usI had taken some HM chilli with us too for me and i had that just before we left as I need to eat every 2 hrs. Weather was cold but dry and roads were wuite clear apart from the Bluewater turning.
Been up on/off all night and am going to take my pain killers in a mo. Its so cold this morning and my hands/bones/joints are killing me and just feel so tired-but soooo glad i got out yesterdayThink I will take it easy today and hopefully feel a little better tomorrow

Morning all - Looks so pretty in the garden this morning - everything is really white and sparkly, don't remember having frost this bad this early in the year before.
BARGIN RZL - Slow cooker chicken, I chopped up 5 celery stalks, 3 onions (cos I had lots that needed using up) a couple of cloves of garlic and put it in the base of the SC, washed my chicken well and sat it on top of the veg, poured over half a pint of hot water and half a pint of white wine (approx) loads of black pepper and some mixed herbs and set to medium for the first hour to get it up to temp (with breast side down), then left it on low for 4 hours but turned the chicken to breast side up. Could harldy lift the chicken out it was so well cooked but so tender and juicy. The rest of the veg and liquid and chicken has gone into making a soup for tonight.
Had a quick trip to France yesterday - tunnel trains were running a bit late. Managed to get the wine I like at 40% off and DH got his at 50% off UK price...good saving. Picked up some spirits for new year (we're having a mini party) and some nice bread and cheese. Got a huge box of buttery croissants that we'll have for breakfast in a bit, then In-Laws will hopefully be setting off for home ( :j ) I'll do a half hour "getting the house back to normal blitz" and then want to spend some time with DD's. Have run out of white vinegar so must go find some today, DH put some washing going yesterday but it's gone all staticy without the vinegar and I was getting shocks taking it off the airers!!
Anyway - hope you all have a wonderful day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning all,
How cold!?!?!?! I have everything crossed at the moment that they will cancel DS football match due to the ground being to hard as I don't want to leave the warm house.
Going to do a big fry up soon and have a really relaxing sunday... can see a few boardgames having the dust blown off them.
Went into town yesterday and it was mad busy, I have come to the conclusion that all shopping till after christmas will now be done on line!
Have a good day everyone.0
