The new Asda opened in Lowestoft today so I took a walk down there and had a look. Didn't really buy much as there wasn't anything I needed. There were some freebies on offer there which was good. Bought my kids Polar Express for Xmas. Don't know what were having for tea yet but I'm trying to clear the freezer out so I can defrost it. So it might be bits of this and bits of that.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Snowy Owl - Your Mr Right will pop along when you least expect. I learnt by experience with the wedding lark. I got married 1st time when I was 21 and it was all arranged by my mother and mother in law - I don't think I had a say in anything........Worst day of my life - Was like being at someone else's party and feeling like you don't belong. 2nd time round was exactaly as we wanted it, DD's played a big part in it too - they designed the invitations and coloured them in, they made some big banners to hang up and helped to choose the ballons and streamers. They both also decided between them that they didn't want flowers to hold but wanted a fairy tiara and fluffy wand each........ Was so memorable and they can still both remember the day and they were only 6 and 4.
Well I've done some painting with DD1 - she's now tucked up again on the sofa watching a film - complaining of sore throat and ear ache! Seems it wasn't just a tummy bug then!
Did manage to get the kitchen floor washed, cleaned the window in DD's room and have washed her duvet and pillows to try and freshen it up again. The ironing has all been done, even those bits that are still wet have been ironed and hung on hangers and are on my curtain rail over the radiator with the sun streaming through.
DH has just been home to collect his stuff and has now buggered off to Leeds for a couple of days of meetings (he did manage to sneak his trunks in the case - just in case he feels the need for a swim and sauna! - chance would be a fine thing!!)
Got to go pick 3 up from school in a bit - will keep them at the park for half an hour seeing as it's a lovely day (a bit of cold never hurt them) 2 of them will be going home at 4 and the other one I suppose I'll have to keep!
No idea what I'm doing for tea tonight - DD1 doesn't want anything and DD2 would live on baked beans if I let her."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Afternoon all,
Lots of poorly children out there at the moment - bet my two leave it until I go back to work on Wednesday! Hope everyone gets well soon.
Today I have done some housework and ironing and it is nearly time to get DS2 up so we can go to school for DS1.
We had a really small wedding as well - it cost next to nothing and was lovely. The only thing I regret was buying a 'wedding' type dress - it was only a register office, but I listened to my friends and got a white evening style dress from Monsoon. I have never worn it again, and infact I felt very awkward in it on the day and wished I'd stuck to my guns and just wore a skirt and jacket type thing. I think you have just got to do what suits you, not what other people want you to do.
It is cold here today - first really frosty morning. Very pretty!0 -
Hello
Very late today I know. Been out reporting all morning. I've been given a free pole dancing lesson!! So going tomorrow with sis.Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Hi all :hello:
ancasta: congratulations and join the wedding planning club! I really wanted a small wedding like yours, but OH and I are lucky enough to have my parents paying for ours, therefore they're inviting the world and his wife. I have tried to put my foot down over numbers (up to 100 at the moment  ), but my dad is having none of it. Hmmmmmm.
Hugs and get well messages and feelings to all that need them.
The terrors in the class that I'm teaching at the moment are just awful. I nearly lost my voice today and I'm now feeling rather ill. They were also asking when their "normal" teacher will return - she's been off sick since the 6th day of term.............. I wonder why when they're little monkeys like that.
I'm feeling quite down in the dumps too. My parents' dog is having an operation tomorrow to have "lumps" removed. The prognosis is not good, and they may well be the "wrong sort" of lumps.:(She's 9 and although she belongs to my parents, she is the family dog and knows my car when I arrive.
Supper tonight is a chicken and bacon caesar salad. Mmmmm, yum.
OH has just called to say that he's on the way back from work and he's got my Amazon parcel with him - which should include my new Money Diet!! Yippee! That's my evening sorted, pouring over Martin and his new book.
See you later

Evening!
Washing basket empty and SIL came and did all jobs needing doing, so all ironing done etc
OH will be starting on painting tomorrow as all stripping now done :T The house is about 50yrs old and all the people before have just painted over and over the woodwork, so OH thought it be best to strip down to the wood and start anew.....dont think he realised how big a job it was. It has taken nearly 2 weeks  but once painted-it will look great!
Still not feeling great-when will this bug go? DD will be back to school tomorrow after having a full week and a day off.
Didnt feel like cooking as such tonight-so we had jacket spuds. I had tuna/sweetcorn & salad cream. OH & DD had butter and cheese. Nice and easy.
Very impressed again with Aldi. The tuna was from there and was the tuna chunks in brine (30p) and tasted lovely-best cheapie tuna Ive tasted. So far then, my regular tinned food from Aldi is tinned tuna chunks, baked beans, sweetcorn, chopped tomatoes and raviolli. We will only be going every 4 weeks or so, so will just stock up on them all, but have been very very impressed so far.
Think OH & I are going to watch something together tonight-feel like a snuggle (not like me at all..lol) and am so flippin cold-may resort to putting the gas fire on in lounge. Talking of gas (quiet please!) did my annual gas and electric readings and when I called Npower they suggested cutting DD to £6 pm, apparently we are very low users, but gas wise we only have GCH (on in winter only), gas hob and gas fire in lounge (very rarely on)-was gobsmacked-I asked them to put at £10 a month then we are covered if we have an extremely cold winterElectric useage is high at £55pm, but we are in 24/7 and have a ton of appliances including TD.
Take care all

I got my geraniums in yesterday, before the frost, have a mystery shooper assignment later this weekand we need to get the base for the shed finished, so it looks like a busy week for me.

Wedding planning is fantastic Ancasta - congratulations - our wedding is at the end of July last year and although we're lucky enough for my parents to be paying we've pretty much had the say on everything. I've just designed my own invitiation which I'm about to start making up (think they'll work out about 45p each - buy handmade ones from someone at a wedding fayre etc and it'll be about £2.50+ each . You can easily see how people end up spending £15000, just look at all the things on confetti.co.uk etc. We will genuinely be having everything we want and missing out what we don't - e.g. favours and 101 other things for the tables at the reception etc. Planning on honeymooning in this country too - probably some hotel stays thanks to tesco deals included
- it will be well under £15000 and exactly what we want
Anyway been at work all day - people in my office don't seem to want to talk at all - not like the office I was in last week so the time dragged a lot and don't even have my own log in yet so couldn't have a browse on the internet to break up the time a bit.
Had porridge for breakfast, little bits and pieces for Lunch and it's chicken bits, chips/waffles and salad for dinner.
Think I'll make some little cakes later and have an early night - don't know why I'm so tiredInitial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Decorating starting to look like it's getting somewhere. DS's lovely newly decorated room was a massive hit and he couldn't wait to go to bed tonight!
I got some work done but not as much as I'd hoped. I did wash the kitchen window for the first time in about 6 weeks. There seemed to be 3 dead spiders and what looked like some mouldy blobs on the frame which I vacuumed up only for my husband to tell me they were eggs. I'm glad we won't be infested with lots of tiny arachnids but I'd rather not have killed them! Maybe if I empty the vac into the composter the eggs will hatch in there...
Anyway, I'm glad I posted this morning because although I didn't get everything done, it was good to have a focus.
Have a good evening everyone. xMay all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Been at work all day, then have been at a 'pamper evening' for charity. Have had no time for anything old style, but I got a rain mac in a bag for £1.99 inc postage on ebay, whereas I'd looked at them in Millets last week and they were £20, I nearly bought one but glad I didn't as have saved £18!
Ancasta- good luck with the wedding planning. Your idea of a wedding sounds very similar to mine- okay, so I'm not even engaged yet, but OH always says just let him know when to ask. Thing is, I kind of would like to be married but just don't want a big wedding at all, friends have married this year in big churches with loads of guests, but it's just not me, I think I wouldn't enjoy the day at all. Just having a small ceremony for very close family and friends then going to a nice pub after would be perfect for me. But OH says that it would be cheeky for us to not at least have a big evening reception for everyone we know to come to as we've been to all their weddings. Maybe he's right, I'd hate to offend anyone- but it's all this worrying about doing the wrong thing and upsetting people that puts me off getting married in the first place!Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0
