Hope everyone is OK. Still feeling lousy with this bug/flu/cold thing-its been a week now and no sign of shifting. Been up since 4am and have already taken a ton of different drugs/pain killers etc. OH & DD still not good either, so looks like DD will be off school again which will mean all last week and today  Just one of those things-I'll call the school again and ask if i need a GP's letter  shes never off, so they know its genuine.

Have done 2 washloads and have been dried in the TD-coz too cold outside. DW has been emptied. All downstairs is clean and tidy :D I swept yesterday and im surprised already by the amount of dust/hair not having the westie-there was hardly any ;)

SIL coming today and she is cleaning inside the pine units in lounge and damp clothing the insides, washing down the fireplace (taking front cover off etc) as its quite dusty and fiddly to do, sorting out under the stairs (quite a big job)and the ironing :p shes here for 5hrs (paid well for though..lol)

OH is going to do what he can with regards to the stripping and painting as the new stair carpet is being fitted friday.

Lunch for me will be fish cakes and left over roasties/mash/veg from yesterday. Everyone else inc SIL will have sarnies-cheese/ham etc. Dinner will be pie and jacket spuds or mash...not sure yet. Breakie is toast/cereal.

Have a ton of calls to make today and like always-im the one who has to do them

    Will catch up later.

  • Morning all!

We're getting a new stair carpet too, Penny pincher. We've had the weekend 'off' as our son has been at grannie and grandpa's house so that we can get some work done. It's months since I've been away from him overnight and I'm missing him, but I'm amazed at how much we're getting done because we can do it together. We've been stripping paint on the stairs, finally decorated our son's bedroom and put all pretty pictures up and luminous stars and planets and a blind with animals on it. He's going to love it when I bring him home today.

My plan is to sort out his toys and get rid of ones he doesn't play with any more, make some meals to freeze for later in the week, give the house a blitz and pick him up from Leeds after lunch. I best get cracking. DH is having a well earned lie in. He's got a couple of days off work. Hurray!

Have a good day everyone. I hope the carpet looks good when it arrives, PP. x

icy icy icy here today but very pretty. Have been outside in my jimjams and de-iced and rewatered the birds bath - but am feeling seriously overwhelmed with all i have to do today. one of those days where my list is so long i really am not sure where to start.

oh well - another cup of tea it is then! : )

Penny Pincher - so sorry to hear youre still suffering with that lurgy.

Breakfast today is definately is a nice hot bowl of porrige, lunch will be a cheese and onion sandwich and dinner is a quick pie and chips as tomorrow will be my cooking and baking day to get some better meals ready.

Also today i am going to have to post more ebay and amazon stuff, look for a mattress for my dad ( my Christmas pressie to him ) , do a couple of washing loads, run to tescos, dust the whole house and clean the bathroom. Wont actually take that long - im just having trouble getting going today.

    have a nice day all.
  • Today i plan on reading everything on Confetti.co.uk and drawing up my wedding budget. OH has finally agreed to get married as ive always said i want to marry him in a little, intimate ceremony and only have our very nearest family there. He has always said not yet because the assusmes because im a girl i must want a big huge jordan style disney wedding affair which i cant think of anything worse tbh. He has thought when i said i wanted small that i was just humouring him as he felt he couldnt afford a huge wedding. Now he knows im serious that i do just want a small wedding. About 12 guests for a day do. then all our friends round to a pub on the night time. Ideally id like the day and night to be in the same place but his family are from the other end of the north east to mine, as are our carless friends so to make sure most people can turn up im striking a happy medium location wise...once i find it. Plan on, if i can, making my own buffet for the night time do, as one of my best mates is an ex chef, as am i so we both enjoy doing stuff like that so it should be fun.

Im so giddy about it all but i have to wait till next october. grrrr.

Today im at work and im skint. Bought lots of christmas presents online as they will take about 4-5 weeks delivery so they are due quite soon but until they arrive, i have nothing to show for the money i spent, and as its for OH i cant really tell him. He knows im skint and gave me £10 for pocket money for this week at work as i get paid next monday or tuesday. Shopping wise we might just need a little top up shop for lemonade (17p a bottle) bread, veg and milk so we're ok. I still have my monthly emergency stash on my credit card.

Tonights tea will be scampi chips and peas i think. Going to make my christmas cards tonight too i think. Maybe draft up some ideas for invitations and what not. We're going to have a burgundy, gold and black theme, sounds tacky but ive only got black balloons and black balloons waits so far on my list but they will look so classy together (ive photoshopped some to see) mmmm gold burgundy and black. .

    Will post back later

    Morning all

Ancasta, weddings can be as cheap as you need them to be - we had around 30 people at the registars office, I wore a black velvet ankle length dress which I picked up in the sales for £10 (and have worn and worn since) and a lush purple velvet jacket that I got for £15. DH wore his work suit, DD's wore dresses from Marks and Sparks and everyone was invited back to ours for a buffet style do! My sister made a cake, my mum made a huge triffle, I made all the bread rolls, a huge pasta salad and as it was just after Xmas we got a huge half price turkey and cooked that up. We didn't have booze as everyone had to drive and we had a fantastic day. Having all the compliments on the food was great. I think all in all we spent £300 on food and clothes and the ceromony itself.

Anyway.......DD is still poorly so a quiet day today - will try and do some baking later - trying to build up a stock in the freezer for nearer xmas - also going to do a meal plan for Xmas day, boxing day and New Years Eve...want to start buying bits each week now to make it a bit easier on the pocket!

Hope you all have a great day.

    Morning All,

Off to the shops to pick up my BM soon. Very excited. Will be wanting to try it out ASAP.

We've had our first frost last night, it was only on the cars not the ground so not a proper one. Enough to have had the CH on for the first time last night though.

Nothing much else happening in the kiwi house today, more revision for theory tomorrow.

LEARNINGTOSAVE big hugs to you and your friends. They must be devastated. A friend of mine went through similar a week after I had DS, I felt retched having a new born when she was suffering the labour of a dead child. Cry for them and be there for them. I know you feel helpless but being there for them WILL help. xxx

  • morning all,
couldnt get to sleep until about 1.30am,dh got home from work at 2.30am and woke me,dropped back off at about 3.15 then dd2 got me up at 5.30 so slightly tired today.
breadmaker about to finish sandwich loaf then when it cools down i will put it back on for dough for bread rolls.
washing machine on and will have to resort to tumble drier for bedding as dd1 was wet through when she woke up this morning-a regular occurance in winter as she goes to bed at 5.30 and wakes between 7 and 8am....this morning it was 8.15am!!
got lots more sorting then listing on amazon and ebay to do and me and dh will be decorating tonight!! will be walking to shops and tiny park with dd's later this afternoon.
breakfast was cereal.....lunch will be a picky one of bread, rolls, cheesy breadsticks, cheeses, ham, tomatoes, salad etc.....tea will be a rogan josh with rice and naan bread...yum!!!
anacasta.....your ideas for your wedding sound lovely,we got married 18 months ago and due to me being only child and dh being first to marry in his family we bowed to pressure and had the big traditional wedding and whilst it was lovely i suppose it wasnt what we'd have immediately chosen and added to our debt considerably!! you stick to your guns if thats what you want...its your day no one elses.
    queenie......missing you.
    hope everyone has good days.
  • Morning all

Feel worse again with my cold this morning, but decided to come into work anyway  Jo, you've just reminded me of one of the reasons I'd rather not go back to temping! At least I get proper sick pay here...

    Soooo cold here this morning!

Didn't quite get as much tidying done as I intended yesterday - I packed away my summer clothes, which is one strike off the list at least, and sorted out loads of old newspapers for recycling, but then succumbed to a bottle (yes, a whole one) of nice red wine and a phone call to my mum :o

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi, not much to report at the moment so might be back later!

  • Hi All
Its my day off so the usual top to toe clean of the house is the plan for today, and ebay parcels to post later. (Sold 11 out of my 15 auctions in the end, mostly very last minute bidders so I did better than I expected) I got a load of those plastic self seal bags you can use to post stuff, it saved me HOURS last night, instead of wrapping everything in brown paper and parcel tape.
House is a complete tip, it always looks like this on Mondays, but our weekends (especially this one) are so busy. It would be lovely to be able to have relaxing weekends.
Had yummy chicken breast roast with stuffing from Aldi for tea yesterday with roasties, yorkies, sprouts, carrots and peas. Lots of chicken and stuffing left for two rounds of sarnies, (todays lunch) Tea tonight is chicken and leek pie, with boiled new pots, sprouts, carrots and sweetcorn, (prepped last night) and rich jam tart (a la bero) for afters. I may have to give in and put the heating on it a minute, Im FREEZING!
Ancasta, so exciting planning your wedding. I cant understand how people can spends thousands on a wedding, ours was very modest but lovely, more or less exactly what we wanted, the only thing I would change looking back was the venue for the reception, which was the only thing we didnt organize ourselves. MIL stuck in her oar and arranged it and I didnt stand up to her, (regret it now) but we had a lovely day and we started our married life without wedding debts. Our honeymoon was in the lakes and it was brilliant, fanatastic weather, who needs the bahamas!
Just stick to your guns and have it the way you and OH want it as its your day!
PP I hope you and your DD feel better soon,
I'm off for a :coffee: and to switch on the heating!
