Morning all, haven't posted on the daily thread before and probably won't every day but thought it would be nice to say Hi to everyone!

My main plan for today is to hoover the stairs and landing - they need it desperately, as we've got cats and one of them likes to snooze at top of stairs! It hasn't been done for some time (I'm too embarrassed to say how long lol) as I haven't had the spare energy, but feeling better today - am really chuffed!

Dinner tonight - chilli con carne, but have to be careful not to make it too hot or DS won't eat it (and probably my heartburn wouldn't be too keen either lol!).

Hugs to all who need them!

Have just taken DD to doctors as she had tonsillitis (or so we thought- we are now awaiting the results of a blood test to see if she has glandular fever!

Really hope she does not have this as it takes so long to get over and she wants to go back to uni as soon as possible.

Just trying to get some food down her as she cannot swallow and is in a lot of pain.

Housework and everything else will just have to wait- have soup in the slow cooker and DH will be home soon so better look industrious lol ;)

Morning all (just) DS's birthday didn't go quite according to plan but he did get to see Nanny McPhee so he was happy with that. XDH said he would ring if he was bringing him back but didn't bother ringing until it was too late for me to bake him a birthday cake so X ended up having to pick one up at Asda on his way back. He also bought him some new school shoes which were badly needed, I know he's now 12 but is there any need for him to be in an adult size 10 yet :(

Will use the cake ingredients to bake a birthday cake for DD1 instead who is 21 on Wednesday. She loves chocolate :D

I've got the washing sorted and folded and another load on, the dining room table and chairs are now back in place and I only have two boxes shoved in the corner which are full of books, I'm now a bookcase short so I don't know where they are going. Made a start on the kids room this morning and cleared two boxes before DH came home from work. He's now in bed so I've had to stop that for the rest of the day. I'm trying to clean a felt pen line off the beige carpet with white vinegar, it seems to be working slowly :D

    Hi all

Sorry about hearing so many people little and big feeling unwell - change of season really brings all the bugs on doesn't it?

Congrats Ancasta on your engagement - as others said, a wedding doesn't need to break the bank. My first one (21 years ago, mind you) cost me all of £15 worth of cake because our local pub made sandwiches for us as a present and everybody chipped in for the drinks - only a few friends and family.

My second one was a bit more expensive (I really wanted something a little more fancy after the pub one a few years back!), we even had champagne, but we negotiated a very good bulk price for the meal and cake at a veg restaurant and the champagne and wine were from a cash and carry - all together we paid (in 1990) £300 for a really lovely do with lots of food and drink in a lovely setting, our own hall etc, not bad for 20 people! I was wearing stuff bought at a sale and great high heel black leather shoes from a second hand shop (total outfit under £40 and bouquet courtesy of DH's best man - a bunch of roses mixed with rosemary from his garden!).

Today is my usual day off from work - YIPPEE! So I went to a yoga class and now boiling a great big pan of beans to prepare dinner in advance for tonight.

Tonight I am starting a knitting class, can't wait, it took me ages to come up on top of the waiting list!

I have put a wash on as the weather is lovely and even if cold I hope that the clothes will dry at least a bit, then in the early evening I am going to hang them inside in the utility room, so when the central heating kicks in at around 6 pm they will get completely dry but will not be dripping and will not throw too much dampness out into the walls (long-drawn argument with my 'environmental-architect' *YAWN!!!* husband hehehe

The teenagers are still in bed as they don't have school on Monday mornings (I thought that when you do A levels you need to work harder - they seem to do hardly anything these days - go figure).

Had toast and ricotta cheese and a sliced apple for breakfast. Lunch not sure yet, depends in what we get in the organic delivery bag that we get on Mon. mornings - if tomatoes there perhaps tomato and rocket (from the garden) salad with some more toast and more fruit. Trying to eat as healthily as I can as I haven't been too well recently and want to treat myself as well as possible.

Last but not least: on my way to yoga I got a lift from another woman who drives there - on the way I saw that someone was throwing away a jam pan and some oven trays, but we were in too much hurry otherwise we would have been late, so we did not stop. On the way back we thought the stuff would have gone, but it was still there, so I got myself a brand-new-looking jam pan, 2 chip pan baskets (I use them to steam veg), 4 new looking enamel oven trays (perfect for pizzas!) and a couple of pan lids YIPPEEEEE!!! I have been meaning to buy a jam pan for ages and now I got it for free!

I wonder if I want it hard enough, if a yoga mat will materialise too!

    Have a good day all,

    Love

Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hi everyone
lovely day here - the sun is shining, the sky is blue etc.....
But its absolutely freezing! I had got used to that warm weather!
Washing is out, gammon is in the slow cooker ready for tonight: I put it in with some apples chopped up that were past their best, but good enough to add some flavour.
We have been at church doing our stint waiting for shoeboxes. Last week we (ds & I) were there 4 hours & no-one turned up. This week we were only doing 2 hours, and someone brought 2 shoeboxes - a little moment of excitement!!!!
Now I need to go make us some lunch.

    Hello

Caterine - WTG, what fab finds :D In just need a very large but strong cardboard box to materialise now :)

So far today, taken both DS's to school and been to clean at mum's. DS2 has gone to his friend's for lunch so I'll see him again when we all go to pick up our DS1's from school at 3.25 :D Means I can get on. DS1's room needs a tidy, bathroom and en suite need cleaning, but I must go and find a big box. Someone has bought my car seat on ebay (I wouldn't personally, but at least I'm happy in the knowledge that the seat is perfectly safe) so now I need to pack it securely. I'm thinking of going to Mothercare and seeing if they have any spare ones :D Got a good price for the seat and another item which I can post today, so the paypal account is looking very healthy.

Breakfast was muesli, lunch was toast and I have a leg of lamb in the SC so will do the roasties and veg etc later. Just going to have a :coffee: then I must get on.

    Have a good day all

    Hello everyone

Thought I had put a post up at about 10.00 am today, but it hasn't appeared. Ah well! Lucky old me has the day off work - unfortunately not an OS stay as the intention is to do my essay which is due to be handed in on Wednesday. Ahh the famous essay...I am one of life's procrastinators...

The essay has been so far sidelined in favour of my going to get my car taxed, naughty me has been putting it off for about three weeks now. I also had to bring my little cutie Dylan the kitten to the vet - he has conjunctivitis, poor little thing. The woman I got him from is one of those mad cat women who would do anything for a kitty - she has rehomed around 7,000 cats over this past decade or so...yes, that's right seven thousand cats... My vet knows her well and does what he can to help her as she gets zero help from any other charity, business or person.

Nipped into the Good Food Shop in Newry and came out with some cooked chicken reduced from £5.99 to £1.99 - will make it into a pie of some sort I think, and also give my kitties a bite or two.

I am full of admiration for you Pooky and how you had such a successful wedding day without pandering to the vulture-like "wedding industry". If my Mr Right ever materialises then I'll be like you and Ancasta and have my own way rather than what the sales persons try to flog.

I really really have to get on with this flipping essay...

Happy Monday everyone, and keep warm especially if you're feeling poorly.
