  • hiya TM,
i think morphy richards are fantastic for customer service!! i had a slow cooker as a wedding pressie 18 months ago.....i felt it had a small fault, rang them expecting to get either advice or no help seeing as i had no reciept etc but they replaced it!! they instantly just sent a new one out and it arrived within 7 days :T
best thing is the fault was only on high and sometimes medium so i can still use it on low so i have two :D

Well I already spent some unplanned money in my "well-behaved" week, but luckily I can justify it against legitimate budgets.

Went for a walk in my lunch break and ended up in the gift shop at Southwark Cathedral where I bought an advent candle (which can come from the Christmas budget) and a remembrance poppy (which can come from the charitable donations budget). They had some lovely advent calendars too - I will probably get one to send to my mum.

HM fish pie & peas was delicious reheated in the microwave for my lunch.

Am actually being quite productive at work today despite having got diverted for long enough to draw up a meal plan (I almost don't have to cook for two weeks - hurrah - but will probably get back into the kitchen early next week so I don't run out of food and have to do another massive cookathon. Next week looks like being quite light on the budget - only one evening out, by myself so no meal or drinks to be paid for! so I can probably spend my full £20 grocery budget and do a bit of a stocking-up exercise.)

  • Hi

Kiwichick-i think dd & I have the same thing you have-our throats are killing us and just want to drink all the time.

Received my microfibre cloth today and Im very very impressed by it! We have black high gloss worktops and use vinegar solution but takes ages and is knackering, but OH just skimmed over them and the black tiles and have polished up really well...not bad for £1.35

Me thinks you are right PP,sucks dont it :(

Doc told me if I could stay in bed for 3 days straight (whatever!) then it might go by thursday,if not it will go when it is good and ready.Could not prescribe anything other than bed rest.

My throat is full of ulcers ( doc kindly called it a colony) which ismaking it hard to breathe as they go down my throat too.

Try to rest, I find it gets worse as the day goes on, tiredness kicking in I suppose. Tell you what though, am VERY glad I've got oodles of HM SC vege soup in the freezer, its not too hard to eat. Yogurt is good too.

Hugs to you and your DD,get well soon,
    Al.

Hi Yall, Bobbyed back from the coast yesterday afternoon after a busy weekend of visiting friends and dropping the kidz off at parties. Many of our friends are shutting up their homes for the winter so there was quite a bit of "Merry Christmas/Happy New Year - see ya at Easter" type thing going on which seemed a bit odd to be saying in November. I'll wait until the bitter end an close up at the end of the month.

I've applied for a job today at the local University working in the library. I ideally need to do some work on the house before I consider a job but it's only 3 hours a day and term time and those jobs don't come along very often. Having said that this is the first time I've been on the putter today cos i've had so much to do so when I will find time to go to work beats me:rolleyes: Maybe I will become one of those DAD's who go to Iceland:D

Having been a stay at home dad for ten years I had a bit of a shock when I filled out the application form when I listed my past employment history, not only have I had a varied career spanning everything from Graphic Designer to Wages Manager via hair colourist and classroom assistant but I also notice that everywhere I have worked as either ceased trading or the owner has since died:eek: Would you give me a job with a track record like that?:rotfl:

I've tempted the kidz into sorting the bookshelves in preparation for a load of Christmas books being unwrapped. They were a bit lukewarm when I suggested they had a clear up. Phrases like "Oh thats like sooo unfair, what a minger" and " yeh but yeh but no but I did it last time..." were uttered but I've won them round by finding a couple of stamps and letting them play librarians as they sort out.;) I am now the proud parent of three kidz sporting a barbie and postman pat stamp on their foreheads.

Off to stir me slow cooker via a bottle of hock (don't even go there TM);) Catch ya later.

S'ok MATH; my DS1 has a voice like fog-horn, DS2 is over tired and the other kidz (just 3, not 4 today) are all running amock. Consequently that last glass of Rose which was hiding in the corner of the fridge made a hasty re-appearance at 4.30 :)

    Hi everyone :hello:

scuzz - Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear scuzz! Happy Birthday to you! Hip hip hurrah!!!!!

ancasta - that reminds me, I've still got my £5 Boots voucher that I need to use by the end of tomorrow.

I had a lovely weekend in the big smoke (ie London), seeing my friend and meeting her boyfriend. She's been with him for over a year, but this is the first time I've ever met him. Anyway, he seems nice enough even though he wasn't very well when I was there.

When I got home last night, OH cooked me a lovely meal from a Jamie Oliver book. It was a lovely treat, and he even did the washing up!!!! How about that!? :D He'd also managed to wash the bed linen, but I had to put the clean ones on. I've now got a mountain of ironing to do :( Not so great, but nevermind!

I've been working again today at the same school that I was in last week. Luckily a couple of my "problem" children weren't in, so that made the day so much nicer. Amazing what a difference it made, actually. I've asked the head whether I could put her down as a referee for future job applications, and she agreed, which is great! :)

I'm just about to buy lots of things from the Lakeland website, so I'd better go! Just bits and pieces for presents and things that I need for the kitchen to make my life better!

Supper tonight is chicken stir fry (again!). Plenty of veggies to keep my brain and heart ticking over nicely :D

Well I never realised everyone felt as bad as I do. It started over a week ago with a sore throat, aching all over and a blocked nose. It's gone on for 9 days so far but gets slightly better each day. Now I'm just left with a really dry, tickly cough and a sore throat which just will not go.

I had a very bad weekend with coughing and was even sick a couple of times and only had about 2 hours sleep in total. So today I went to the doctors who told me they could do nothing at all to help and I should rest. How can a lone parent with 2 school age children rest?

Apart from that I posted some competition entries today and then went to a coffee morning for ex-victims of domestic violence. Then my bf decided to go to an internet cafe so I went on msn to talk to him (he lives 150 miles from here).

Cooking wise today I have made sausage, mash and green beans (from the garden) followed by apple dumplings.
