Arrrgggh TM you have just reminded me that DH has gone to work with his car keys and the child seat is in his car :( Means I will have to walk up to his work later to get the keys off him, plus my car is strategically parked so that we can get the van in front of the house to unload it later.

  • Morning all :)

Yeah its Saturday! No rushing round getting DD ready for playgroup (she is such a slow coach getting ready). No plans for today, have been busy all week and have another busy week lined up next week so just chilling today. My dad is keeping Leah occupied building a HUGE tower with Lego so i've escaped to come on here (i don't have a pc of my own so have to come to my mam and dads to use theirs).

Went to a Virgin Vie party at my best mates house last night, didn't buy anything though - £7 for a nail varnish, are they mad?! lol My mate also makes and sells handmade cards so i bought a few of those, they're really pretty. Spent £2 on cards plus £3.72 for a bottle of wine so not too bad :)

Got a load of washing to put on, its pouring down though so will have to hang it on the maiden and radiators to dry. Breakfast was porridge for me and Rice Krispies for DD, lunch is jacket potatoes with beans and cheese for DD and tuna and sweetcorn for me, then we're having tea at my parents house so no cooking tonight! :)

DD has her dancing exams tomorrow so we're having a practice later on today - i made her a CD of all the songs that she learns the routines to. Lol, i've permanantly got Steps and S Club 7 stuck in my head.

    Take care all

Chocolate Chip and Banana pudding listed in the slow cooker recipe thread.

Yummmmm - may just have to go and make one now

I'm now really cold cos the heating's gone off, so it's on with my big slippers as well as on with the heating. Mr TM has just rung to say he's going up to Tesco's cos he wants to get the beers in for next w/e when a friend comes to stay. There goes the budget. I only wanted him to get a couple of cartons of apple juice too :(

Woke up to some great news today!! :D Got paid yesterday but was short about £320 on the amount i know i need to cover my bills cos im off sick.... I knew i had £500 in savings so this month would be ok... BUT then i thought "what about next month?" When its likely to be about £500 short!

Must have an angel watching over me though (or rubbing buddhas belly works! ;) ) Because i got a letter this morning from the tax man.................. i got my tax rebate id applied for for being overtaxed last year! :j Nice cheque enclosed for £303.28 :T :j :j :j Means i can "afford" to stay off work with my depression (mainly caused by my awful job and the situation it puts me in!!) till at least Christmas!!!! :D :j

Gives me time to find a new job - i know this will solve 95% of my problems.. and also longer to find a new place to live!! Even if that does mean moving home to my mums for a few months! Which actually now doesnt bother me too much! :)

Anyway shouldnt ramble on... im just so made up! Funny how one piece of paper can lift a huge weight off your shoulder isnt it?

Today is have a nosy on ebay for a winter coat, tidy up a bit (one person = lots of mess somehow?!!)... Then i'll visit my nan for my weekly dose of my self esteem being shot to pieces and being told i have failed in life so far and will never make anything of myself before ive even got my coat off! I promised myself id stop going.. but Nicki, her OH + her DD have invited me to go to the local FREE firework display with them ( :D :j ) and they are going straight from my nannas house..

Depending what time we get back from there i might make some cards or maybe settle infront of the Tv with some hot choccy with marshmallows and watch my free DVD rental copy of Priscilla Queen of the Desert! Fab film and always cheers me up! :)

Not really a very OS day is it?! :rotfl:

Afternoon all (is it that time already?)

Been fiercely productive today, even though I didn't wake up until 11am. I hardly ever set the alarm for Saturday mornings, cos it's the only chance I ever get for a lie in (Sundays are out because I have to be at church choir practice in central London by 10am).

Took all my shoes to the cobblers. Total damage will be £26 which is not as bad as I was expecting. Will be off to pick them up later, taking loads of bottles for the bottle bank.

Took all my non-washable work clothes and both my posh frocks to the super-cheap local dry cleaners (£6 for 4 garments, so £12 altogether).

Went to Lidl and Tesco for the rest of what I needed for today's marathon cooking session. Spent £11-ish altogether including some nice reduced chicken pieces for the freezer.

WM is on with second load of the day (blacks); first load (colours) is in TD cos it looks like it's about to pour with rain. Will do bedding later.

Pork & pineapple curry is in the SC for tonight (plus some for the freezer). Will be back in the kitchen shortly to make bacon pasta bake and fish pie. Together this lot should mean I don't need to cook properly again until next Sunday. Must put a nice bottle of wine in the fridge for this evening.

OH and I did not in the end go out for a meal last night, so I didn't end up spending £25!

johanne - :j that's great that you got a tax rebate just when you need it! I sympathise about the job - mine has been making me really depressed lately too. I hope you find a new one soon.

Right - time I was doing the washing up...

  • Learning: Good luck with your spending challenge - I know you'll do well, you already have the attitude + full pantry and freezers ;) which will get you through. Good luck also with your selling.

Queenies post above made me laugh, I mis-read it and thought she was saying "good luck also with your spelling" :rotfl:

Powie69 - Good luck with the driving today, and I hope that your dad doesn't need the crash helmet tomorrow! I remember when I first started to go out driving after I passed my test, if my mom was in the car she looked terrified the whole time and clutched the door handle of the car so tight her knuckles went white! I'm a much better driver now, honest!

Well I had a girls night out last night, delish Italian meal. Was an expensive one in the end tho' as I was staggered at the cost of the train fare, and had a taxi home, my friend I normally share with couldnt make it either so had the whole fare to find. Still it was really nice to have a good girly chat and catch up.

Been shopping to Aldi and was only a pound over budget even though the shopping list was huge this week and also bought a bottle of fake Baileys. However decided to pop to Sainsburys to get some "bags for life" as my carriers I usually use have given up the ghost, ended up spending £8.09, and bought two frozen ready meals! This is because DD's have swimming lessons on Saturday at a baths about 10 miles away. We dont usually get home until 6.45, which is a bit late to start cooking, also have to shower DD;s too, so we usually go to Mc-you know-where. I am trying despite opposition from DD's and OH to give this up. As I was out last night I forgot to get one of my home made ready meals out of the freezer, so I have bought some. However it is still cheaper than McDonalds, next week I will be more organized and put something in the slow cooker.

I'm off to tidy up as the house is in its usual weekend state. Tomorrow I am hoping to finally get my ebay stuff on, OH cant get into bed theres so much stuff piled his side, I need to free up this space for wrapped up Xmas pressies.

Johanne, congratulations on the tax rebate :T , I hope you get a new job soon.

I decided to go charity shop trolling this morning and had a brain wave.I've been looking for a table to fix my knitting machine to.One that will fold away and whilst in one of the charity shops I saw an ironing board for £2.50.Anyway it is ideal as it is narrow but has balanced legs(so wont fall over with the weight of the kntting) and folds flat.
OH is just back with DD,they've been to Karate.
Tea will be tuna and pineapple pizza.
