:hello: Goooood Morning!!
Snowy Owl:  Oooh err! having your electric cut out at the busiest time of the evening can prove a real nightmare!! Good luck with your essay!
apple mint: It would be wise to get together a "Winter Emergency Kit" for this year as there has been talks of a gas shortage and a 3 day week due to power cuts.
brummiebabe: Hope you'll be able to catch up with some sleep and the washing problem is resolved (haven't seen the thread yet).
Learning: Good luck with your spending challenge - I know you'll do well, you already have the attitude + full pantry and freezerswhich will get you through. Good luck also with your selling.
My weekend is centering around the airing cupboard - all needs a good sort out since a mishap a couple of weeks ago and now dh is back there are 100 and 1 things which need sorting - and the garden. With luck, we will be having a small fireworks of our own in the garden later this evening to commemorate 400yrs since the gunpowder plot!
Have a wonderful weekend - if you're below par, rest; if you're in full steam ahead ... enjoy! LOL

Morning all!
Up early this morning as D4 (18month) woke up early again. Thought she was out of that habit. Ah well.
Off to Town this morning. Need to go to boots and spend my hard saved cash on dental products. DD2 (11yo) is a strange one. For a girl, she take no pride in her appearance - she is happy to go to school unwashed, smelly and dirty teeth etc.
I've basically let her get on with it - no matter what I said or tried to do made any change in what she did  - I do force her to bathe at least once a week though! I suppose she'll grow out of it. Anyhow - she broke a tooth Thursday and took her to the dentist Fri - who was horrifed at the state of her teeth. 2 are totally rotten, 2 need lots of work and she has lots of other small holes - luckily most are her baby teeth.
So after a big argument  (again) about her hygiene standards we are off to puchase the whole kit and caboodle today - new brushes, those dye tablets etc. etc.
Okay - I can blame some of this on me and the types of food I was presenting to my kids pre-OS - but she is the only one like this, the others all have perfect teeth.
Anyway, I digress!
Then its off to Tesco with my miniscule shopping list (I love meal planning!) I too am have an Ebay mad day today, and hopefully it's baking day tomorrow - pies and cakes and freeze the lot! :j0 -
Morning Everyone,
I'm off out in the car on my own for the first time since passing my driving test last week. Should be okay though (hopefully). Im taking my dad out tomorrow, and he said he was going to wear a crash helmet( only joking). Other than that I am hoping to go and get some shopping OS with DS and DH. And we are going for a walk in our local woods for the afternoon. THinking of that I had best sort out a flask and food to take with me.
Have a good day, everyone:wave:A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -
Morning all,
Feel like I've not posted for ages, it's been such a busy week. I'm happy because our bathroom finally got finished yesterday, towel rail and cabinet are put up, and it all looks lovely and sparkly and co-ordinating. So I'll definitely give it a clean later to get rid of the sawdust etc from the drilling.
This morning have all the regular chores- hoover, polish all house, and wash another load of clothes (did 1 last night). Am hanging them all on the airer- might try to hang next load up outside as weather looks ok.
Need to go to Tescos to buy a few bits. I found it surprisingly easy to stick to the grocery challenge last month (£85 for 2 adults for whole month) so shouldn't have a problem sticking to it again. Still have quite a few staples in the cupboards too.
This evening we are going to a friend's who is making some food for us all (a few other couples), then we will all go to the town's firework display. It is normally pretty good. Goes without saying that I bought the tickets in advance to save £2.50 per ticket.
Have to take a DVD back to the library and pick up a reservation.
Have a good day all.Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -
LearningToSave. wrote:does anyone have a recipie for banana and choc chip muffins? sounds yummy to me but cant find a recipie :-(
We've got a recipe in our collection for banana muffins and I guess it would just be a matter of adding some chocolate chips

Morning my lovlelies
Had a nice early rise this morning, been out for a walk, even if it was to have a sneaky cigarette and suspicious phone call to organise OH's christmas pressie!!
Gotta go visit my grandma and parents today (who luckily live next door to each other) then dash home to do a sprint tidy up and furniture shift as we are having a few people round to watch some fireworks. Im gonna make some iced buns and maybe set the bbq up to roast some chestnuts and cook jacket tatties, no burgers though.
About these power cuts, i work for npower and they dont seem to be worrying too much about them, but im ALL for a 3 day week, and i like the dark so im ok. Just gutted as my entire house is electric so we cant cook either. I have a gas camping cooker though so i just need to buy a refil and im away.... i also have a battery back up for the tv. mwahahaha
Ill be back later, im just off to indulge in my sausage sarnie and coffee.

Woke up to the smell of fresh bread - have finally got back into the swing of using BM - had 2 awful loaves in successsion and it dented my confidence.
Home made soup is in the slow cooker and later we are going to Lidl as fridge is bare.
Have done most of the Christmas shopping as I want to avoid the crowds later on. But bank balance is wondering what happened as expenses are late coming in- if only bills were the same!
Trying not to spend money but every time I decide this - something happens.
Hope to hear from Curry Queen soon.
Regards to all.
Re power cuts I bought a wind up torch and radio from Tesco for £10 - do not tell DH as he will think it is a waste of money - but if there is a power cut lol"This site is addictive!"

Morning all.
CQ I hope you feel able to come back soon, you are very missed
Had a nice little lie in this morning, the slow cooker is now on, the living room and kitchen tidied. DH is at work all day and I plan on taking it easy this morning as the transport is arriving this afternoon to fetch everything out of storage. So I have to dismantle the dining room table so everything can be put straight in there for me to sort it all out, supposed to be doing a bootsale with whatever I want to dispose of.
The kids are looking forward to seeing all their toys again though and I am looking forward to sorting through the christmas decorationsOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Hello folks
Sort of had a lie in this morningaka not getting up to breakfast until 10am. Watched Jeeves and Wooster - I love it
However, went to bed really late, then DS2 fell out of bed (again - and I've just sold his bed guard
) then DS1 came in really early, so all in all about 5 hours sleep.
It's raining here - again! Never mind - at least my heating works, which reminds me, I must phone up the plumber re some work we need doing.
Mr TM took DS1 to karate this morning and I let DS2 stay here - but he took my car with all the car seats in so I can't get to pick DS1 up - so that's curtailed Mr TM's time in town. Also means he can't buy a fry up/burger(I'm thinking of the budget, given up on his health ages ago)
Need to do general cleaning/tidying today. May be looking after next door's 13yo this afternoon of he's not going to his uncles, but that's OK, he plays well with my boys (free child entertainer) Also need to get my Xmas boxes sorted as I need to drop them off next week.
BM needs to go on again, as does 'dishy' and beds need stripping too, so WM and TD will get a hammering today. Still need to do some more 'banana' baking as well.
LTS - I don't see why you can't just leave the nuts out. I have a recipe for a banana and choc chip pudding you do in your slowcooker, which I may post later, when I have time. In fact, I may try it today too
If the weather improves tonight, we're going into Clitheroe for the big bonfire and fireworks display at the castle. We may still go even if it's raining
Have a good day and be safe around those fires and fireworks (speaking as someone who has been on the receiving end of a rocket in the face )
