    Hi
Just popping in to say hello to everyone, as I have been out all day. Although did manage to get washing done and dried on the washing line, so that's something.

ps re the confusion about DW (ie is one switching on ones wife or dishwasher) on another site I was on the dishy little kitchen appliances were called d/w as opposed to DW. Does that help?

    Hello everyone

The electricity is off here, so I'm bashing my laptop for as long as its battery lasts. Thankfully I have some candles, and by chance happened to put a torch in a v.prominent and easy to locate position yesterday. I'm feeling rather peckish though, had a cup of tea when I came in but need something a bit more substantial now. Hmm, breakfast cereal, cold beans out of a tin, salad...trip to the chippy sounds v.appealling.

The leccy failed about three minutes before the w/machine finished - so I guess I'll have some overcrumpled clothes when I eventually get it finished and opened. I soooo wanted to do some hoovering tonight (yeah right!) but twas not to be. Oh I am starving, really fancy a pizza or something.... right that's it, am off to go and seek some hot food, see ya all later!

Learningtosave - I have just added 2 banana and nut recipes to the Old Style collection. (post nos 281 and 282 until squeaky gets them indexed)

I have to say, the teabread one is very very nice - I've just made the BM version (I've posted it in the BM recipes and OS recipes). Then again, the all in one loaf is just so more-ish too.

Off to kitchen for another piece

    Evening all

Have been at work all day today. Not very OS day though, a colleague was leaving & we all had a 'fish & chip' lunch at work - yummy but was my 2nd 'takeaway' of the week!

Did a load of washing this a.m. & have just done a pile of ironing. Dishwasher is finished but will unload in the morning.

DS2 fell asleep on the settee tonight before his bath, so he's gone to bed REALLY EARLY. I know I'm going to pay for it around 4-5.00am!! Has anyone got any ideas what to do to these kids to make them sleep past 5.45am??????

I'm absolutely shattered & will be in bed for 10pm tonight (although would really like to watch Jonathan Ross because 'The Kaiser Chiefs' are on tonight!!) I'm hoping it's repeated at some point - need to check the schedules!

Hope everyone has a good sleep tonight - tiredness and general lack of sleep is a KILLER!!!

Good morning everyone! And Hurrah it is SATURDAY!!!

We had a dark one last night here in South Armagh, ie our leccy went off at about 7.00 pm or so....didn't come back on until about 2.00 am-ish. Was cold and hungry so went to the Chinese for tea....woke up a wee while ago with a raging thirst - must be all that mono sodium wotsaname - and of course lots of lights were on. Took the opportunity to empty the washing machine, think I'll go and put another load in in a minute or two.

Today I intend doing lots of housework, chucking out of rubbish & old papers, also have an essay to write for my course - don't mind that actually as has been a while since I've engaged my brain, thinking of making a Christmas cake but have to go and buy a decent tin (hope the leccy doesn't go off again when cake is in the oven!!).

Penny-Pincher, hope you had a good night last night. Curry-Queen hope you're hanging in there - don't be away too long. Queenie, may have some Christmas cake questions over the weekend....hope you don't mind if I PM you.

    Cheerio everyone, happy weekend!

    Morning SnowyOwl :hello:

Wow, the electric going off. In our old house we had gas but in this house it's oil fired heating run be electric so if the electric goes off we'd be pretty cold. I must put together a little emergency kit just in case we have the same problem (candles, matches, torch etc.). Youngest daughter hates the dark

Made muffins for the first time last night - they went down very well with everyone ... only two left. I'm going to make another batch today and freeze individual ones for lunch time pack ups.

I'm picking up my lamb order from the farmer's market today - so it's shepherds pie production this weekend (yum). I've got some foil containers ready from Lakeland - so I'll be able to pop the meals into freezer, thaw when needed and pop them straight in the oven.

Have a lovely OS day everyone!
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

    Morning all:hello:

Well, as predicted, I was awake at 5.00am with DS2. At least I did go to bed a bit earlier, so don't feel too bad!

Had a disaster last night with some washing (see seperate thread) so am trying to sort that out at the moment.

Not very OS day planned today. Am getting my haircut this morning and then have to go & pick up a delivery from the Post Office, as we weren't in when they tried to deliver. May also need to get my son a new school sweatshirt, depending on whether I can sort out the washing problem:(

My nephew is 17 today, so taking his card/pressie round later - not that he'll be in (you know how teenagers are:rolleyes: ) but will get to catch up with my SIL.

Had some toast for breakfast already - may have some cereal later, if I get hungry. Dinner tonight will be shepherd's pie!

Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!

  • morning all,
dd2 had me up at 5am so im not impressed!!! shes 'talking/shouting'(shes only 6 months!) so loudly too that shes bound to wake dd1 up
BM,WM both on.........breadmaker smelling yummy.slowcooker will be going on later with a beef stew type concoction in :D

ticklemouse.....thanks for posting those banana bread recipies, quick question for you-or anyone else who may know-can i just leave the nuts out? i hate them, have never given them to dd1 and dd2 is just starting to have fingerfood but obviously isnt allowed nuts. theres a lovely sounding recipie in the book that came with my BM too but also has nuts in.

tootles thanks very muchly....sounds delicious :D

does anyone have a recipie for banana and choc chip muffins? sounds yummy to me but cant find a recipie :-(

well i checked online banking and all my d/d's have gone apart from one and after that money is taken out the equation i have just £84 in two tax credit payments to last the month(until 28th) for food and entertainment etc
so full freezer and cupboard inventory....luckily they are both ram packed full and im also stocked on washing powder, nappies and baby milk too so apart from fruit, veg and milk and maybe one bread flour i shouldnt need to buy anything.so it should be ok :o its going to be odd though because in previous times we would have just gone shopping as normal and put it on the credit card but in our quest to get debt free they have all been cut up and if we dont have cash we arent getting.

tomorrow im going to ebay like mad!!! have huuuuuuge pile taking up half of our bedroom but never seem to be bothered to do it :o want to get a bit of extra cash for 'emergency's'
also going to check out apprentice tycoons amazon thread as i have lots of books so it may be better to sell them there...although most of them are trashy chick lit books :D
