I am so angry I coud spit......
2 years ago when I retired the City Council managed to louse up our housing and Council Tax benefit inspite if being given the figures as soon as we had them in July it took them to November to sort it out and then proceeded to claw back over £900 they said we had been over paid......we started paying back at a fixed sum a month and as soon as I could I overpaid, when our benefit for council tax was calculated last year the refund paid off what we owed the Council Tax, but the housing benefit could not be done that way, and as we were, by that time, overdrawn at the bank I continued paying the monthly sum by bankers order. At the beginning of this year I rang the council and asked for a settlement figure, which they told me was £15.00 which I paid, I asked for a confirmation letter which I recieved and then cancelled the direct debit to the bank....... with me so far??????
This morning we get a letter 8 MONTHS after they told us the account was clear saying we still owed them £55.32 and demanding payment within the next 7 days.....on phoning I was told that they had made a mistake and that they had tried to collect this money through the bank which of course was refused because I had already cancelled the DD having been told the account was clear..........
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I have paid the amount under duress, really angry that it has taken then 8 MONTHS to contact us, no aplology.....just pay us or else.........

Know what you mean, freya, about letting things go around the house - I'm just the same and I haven't even got kids as an excuse - just a job and lots of time-consuming hobbies  My recent strategy seems to be working, though. Basically I try to ensure that every day I get rid of more mess than I create. Mathematically speaking, that's got to end up with the place being tidy, right?
Just munching my lunch (reheated HM sausage and bacon pasta bake - I overdid it a bit on the cheese topping this time)
And am trying to fit odds and ends of personal admin around the huge pile of work I've got to get through today. Speaking of which - must just pop out to the bank (bills to pay, and some stuff to pay in)...Operation Get in Shape

Yikes! It was cold on the East Coast this weekend and I took the kidz down to the beach in a snow blizzard cos we had never seen the beach covered in snow. Came back to the East Mids early (driving through the wolds in yet another blizzard) cos even with three duvets and two hot water bottles I couldn't sleep for being cold. Isn't central heating lovely?:D
I've popped a few home comforts in the office to make my paid2click and MSE surfing more cosy ie: a snuggle fleece blanket and a hot water bottle to pop me tootsies on. I'm not a young as I once was and am feeling the cold. I only need to add a catheter bag and a zimmer frame and I could star in an advert for an Old Folks home or for one of those sit-in baths ads where you bathe in a full piece bathing suit;)Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Just waiting for Environmental services to call me back after a run in with the local takeaway!! I rarely treat myself but I was so cold and tired after walking 3 miles and back to Currys that I relented, so why did they pick today of all days to try and serve me with substandard food??Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

There's this one ~~~~>
I have a slightly more graphic one but won't post it in case anyone is eating whilst reading
I think there's a bug going round as my youngest came home feeling ill on Sunday evening with stomach cramps and feeling sick (I blame his dad's g/f's cooking! ) although he hasn't actually been sick yet, but he also has a bit of a fever/head cold with it, so is off school at the moment
Hope your babes start to feel better soon *hugs*"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Finally managed to catch up with the thread so glad to hear some of you are having a better day and feeling slightly less frazzled, and *hugs* to those still struggling with problems :grouphug:
I'm feeling a bit better myself at the moment as a couple of things that have been causing me major stress and anxiety recently have finally been resolved today, although there's still a long way to go with everything else, but at least it's a start :T"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

MATH I think I'm already there...
today with my basket of yellow stickered things, my separate little grocery money purse, my old style but very warm wool tweed overcoat(charity shop but VERY nice;)), pensioners started chatting to me at the bag packing table as if I were one of them.
When do I collect my zimmer frame:rolleyes:Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
