    I've been Money Tipped!
Cold here but no snow! Made kedgaree for supper today and added some left over salmon to it for a change. I am now starting to wrap some pressies up but still need to make a start on the cards. That reminds me I have to get to the post office for stamps!
Only have some vouchers to get now and then the food shopping begins!

Moggins - (((hugs))) for your dd, my dd went through the same a couple of months ago. no warning at all poor girl and she was stuck up in manchester, miles away from us! We got to her the next day and brought her home for a while but it was quite a traumatic time. Still 1 less pressie to buy!

Hope everyone staying fairly unstressed, I find the shops a nightmare this time of year!

Very late posting today, its been another hell of a day, we had a job to do for my stepson, DH went out to get the car out and nothing..........flat battery.....called out the breakdown people, result a new battery which brings the total spent on the car this year to £1059.95.......what could I have done with that cash.....we need to seriously think about whether its worth keeping the car, but if we sell it and buy a smaller one we will also have to sell the caravan, so holidays in France down the pan too.........

Eventually managed to get out after lunch and then.... it snowed........and settled, hope its gone by the morning I have a longish journey to make.....

We had roast beef and yorkies yesterday I used up the yorkie with some sausages mash and baked beans with onion gravy for supper........loverly........mince in the slow cooker for Bol sauce overnight........

I made some chelsea buns in the BM last week, just finishing them off, one left, will have to cut it in half.........

Posted off all my overseas presents this morning, all the rest are wrapped and the cards written everything has to be done and dusted before we go off on Dec 14th....

    Morning!

I thought id start the thread today! Last night was a nightmare - my wardrobe fell on me! It would appear that ikea arent very good with physics - my glass doors are too heavy for the frame and it topples forward every time I open the doors, which isnt that great! I shall be complaining today - dont they realise that most people have carpets and not hard floors????

I went to Ikea again last night because I knew that they had an offer on a picture I wanted for £15 instead of £30 - and it looks great! The flat is really coming together now but im very skint! Im going to order a coffee table this evening and put a deposit on it for when I next get paid (which is in about 2 weeks). Ive got to make that one last though - around 5 weeks which means cracking into the savings for the january sales. its my birthday in Jan though so I can buy a few things for my birthday and the boyf can give me the cash - sneaky!!

Anyway, Ive got to go as I nearly missed the bus yesterday and ive got the keys for people to get in with.

    Have a lovely day!

    Been up since 3am

WM on with whites and have another load to do after. DW 3/4 full. BM will be going on in a minute for pizza dough. All downstairs clean and tidy. Gas fire on as Im freezing today, also have a single quilt on sofa with me today as Im cold to the bone

OH is fitting a couple of antique brass sockets today which we bought about a year ago (costing a small fortune-but pre MSE), also hopefully some other bits, but will wait and see as any excuse and nothing gets done...MEN!!!

Have a few bills to pay on line in a while and a couple of calls to make.

Breakfast was scrambled egg/toast for us all. Lunch I think is fish, new pots and peas-I have a Cod Florentine which was bought from Lidls a few weeks back and looks scrummy. Dinner not sure yet.

    Will catch up later.

  • Morning all,

Haven't posted for ages as been away a lot with work. Desperately need to get back on the OS wagon! Having been living on toast and hotel dinners and definitely feel the worse for it...

Not a lot planned for today except to try and get to work in one piece - it's really icy here and took me 2 1/2 hours to get home last night in the snow (only 8 miles!).

    Keep warm everyone!

Well I am up, no further snow overnight, just a light dusting, will have to listen to the radio see what the road report is....

Must clean our bedroom when I get home, you can write your name in the dust, did manage to do the bathroom last night after I had my shower......

Bol sauce done to a turn on the SC overnight, so thats tonights dinner and one for the freezer.

Had a good nights sleep for a change, think I woke once but not for long, just turned over and went back to sleep. Still got my cough, take the last of my medication today, guess the cough will be with me for a while, Bronchitis with a cold on top is not a good idea......

    Morning all

DD1s 10th birthday today - so she had us up at the crack of dawn to open her pressies. She's gone to school very happy - I'm sitting here feeling really smug too as we didn't pay full price for any of her pressies.....I've had some of them since Feb last year but grabbed them while they were reduced! She's mad on G4 and their new c.d. came out yesterday so she got that last night with some money she'd already got - we promised to get her tickets to see them on their new tour (we saw them last year and they were fab) Luckily their first tour date is local to us!

Have to make toad in the hole for tea (her fav) and have mother coming round at lunch time to surprise her after school. House is reasonably tidy, 2 loads of washing to do today, cleaned the bathroom this morning while it was still damp from showers (so much easier to clean) Going to get the sewing machine out in a bit to finished this toy dragon and play with some white fabric as DD2 informed me last night she's a "swan a swimming" in the school play and needs to be head to toe in white!

Got a new kettle at the weekend and only just managed to get rid of the plasticy taste and smell of it - boiled some vinegar water in it last night and left it too cool, smells great this morning, why didn't I think of that earlier!!!!

Hope you all have a great day - send some snow this way please!

  • Hi all! Hope everyone is OK

Not one iota of snow here in Essex....... Couldn't we have just a few token flakes?!!!!

At work early - no body else here yet. So I did 100 sit ups :) Got to be careful as the boss brings an untrained puppy in so I have to keep tabs on where he's had his 'accidents' before I lay down.

Spent last night making pickled onions and finally got rid of our sofa. Only 4 years old but nobody wanted it and we were afraid we'd have to dump it. Luckily somebody came forward though so we can now walk through the house without bumping into things :)

jw1096: Wasn't there any instructions advising you to attach a chain/bracket to the wall? Usually they suggest that just in case - even though they never supply the chain to do it with.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

  • Morning :hello:

It's freezing cold again (yesterday morning was milder) and all the trains were delayed this morning. Because I wanted to make sure I got here, I got the first available train which meant I got off at a different station from normal so didn't go past my usual source of £1.20 yummy bacon rolls. Decided therefore to treat myself at Pret a Manger, and somebody made one hot chocolate too many so they gave me a free one. Wish this had happened BEFORE I ordered my coffee  but not complaining!

Spent £8.80 not in the weekly budget yesterday (anybody got a slap-wrist smiley?) cos I had a Burger King meal (£4.49), a magazine (£2.80) and some sweets (£1.51). Still I'm not doing too badly, I still have £30 in the "un spoken for" kitty to last till Christmas, so I can afford to overspend a wee bit here and there. Am aiming to be frugal for the next 2 weeks or so, because the week ending the 18th is likely to be quite pricey as I'm singing in a show on the 17th so that week is likely to be more than usually alcoholic (Luckily the place where we rehearse is next door to a students' union bar so the prices are quite manageable!). Drinks for office party are already in the budget.

Housemate has so far mentioned nothing more about selling the house. And we've had no more vandalism since our porch window was cracked by a stone on Friday night.

Tonight is my only evening at home this week so I will be setting up and playing with my new toy. It's a Freeview Twin Tuner Hard Disk PVR. I have had such a saga getting hold of it, but I got it for a very good price thanks to advice on the "I wanna..." board. Saved up earlier in the year for it, as I'd been putting off getting Freeview at all until there was a gadget available (at the right price) that did all the things I wanted.

Must also cook something up for the freezer tonight - probably mushroom risotto as the mushrooms will have gone funny by the next time I have the chance to cook - and do some singing practice as I have a lesson tomorrow.

    See you all later
