Ive only got to put the tassels on the scarf and it is finished.
DD has been designing badges to go in the HM crackers.
OH has been reinforcing the fence yet again (sigh).
My gooseberry bush finally arrived on friday and I planted it out Saturday.Hopefully we'll be able to have HM gooseberry jam next year as well as Blackcurrant and Blackberry.Cant wait for the Spring to get out and planting again.
Tea tonight will be Chicken stew with dumplings.0 -
HM crackers, how lovely!
I haven't made ours, but was really thrilled to see some hand made ones on a charity stall on Saturday, made by the craft group of the local hospice. They are supposed to be tree crackers, so are quite small - but they were 12 for £2.50, and each contains a snap, motto & a chocolate... much more useful than a bit of plastic tat!!!!0 -
Hey Kiwichick
I was soooo nervous on my mock test that I failed....I was so blasé about the real thing (convinced that I'd fail) that everything went well and I passed!
Go for it and GOOD LUCK!

Afternoon all:hello:
Been missing here for a while amnd I've fallen off the wagon a bit but I just had to come and share what is great news to me
A few weeks back OH got a HSBC credit card with a £4k limit (:j) for us to balance transfer to. We managed to BT my capital one card, the outstanding balance on my mastercard (which we keep just for spending on when we need to) AND over £500 from his Time Retail Finance accountLast week he got a letter from TRF saying he had £90 worth of credit on his account so he rang up, transfered the credit to my account with them and closed his account
This morning I've just rang them and got a closing amount for my account and was told that the direct debit due on the 1st December WOULD go out so I've made a note in my diary to ring them as soon as that payment is out of my bank account to close the account with TRF :j
Also I phone Capital One up and closed my account with them and was told that I could re-apply as a new customer once I had received my letter confirming my account is closed :T
More good news (and I must thank DD for rubbing buddah's belly alot recently) is that OH has renewed his car insurance and it was only £736.05 (with an additional £19.95 fees) when last year it was £853.65 with £18.90 fees giving us a saving of £116.55 including fees :j
By my calculations we could be debt free (excluding OH's student loan) by Xmas 2007  Going to spend the last 40 minutes or so of peace I've got left doing some final calculations on my credit card spreadsheet then I guess I had better wrap ebay parcels tonight and do the washing up as wellCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Grrrrr - my back is killing me - probably cos our computer chair is falling to bits, so have just ordered a new one from Viking. BUT - forgot to go via Greasypalm
Have faffed around for so long before putting order in, that as I'm now sitting at an angle, it must have skewed my brain too (if that's possible
))
At least my glossing is finished. All being well, I should get the emilsioning done tomorrow, if I cut it in tonight. Ooops, Monday night is Corrie, SCD - it takes two, Celebrity GMOOH etc. Luckily, have borrowed portable from DS1 so can watch them while I work I suppose0 -
well impressed, remember the sewing machines lidles were doing for £40 last month well they were back on today and my father in law managed to get me one so excited. last time they were all gone by 9am. in argos they are £90.
i am making a skirt in my dressmaking classes and just need to machine it now , so i can wear it for xmas.
also got from somewhere else a breadmaker for 39.99, a digital camera down from 160 to 40. and the pink babe phone down from 130. to 81.
i also might be able to get the player thingy that is portable and does dvd, playstation and mp3 in one which is £180 for £100.
getting good at this money saving lark.0 -
Went into York with DD and got a hat scarf and gloves set for £3.99 - just as well because it promptly started to snow.
Got special Christmas cards for dd to give to friends (56 of them)!
Slippers for grandad for christmas and some cosmetic stuff for other daughters.
Came home frozen so thawing out while I browse around on here.
Tea was chicken breasts wrapped in bacon with salad and baked potatoes.
Made soup in slow cooker while I was out and DH has scoffed most of it."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA

Evening!
Was really busy at work today as I predicted - but strangely it wasnt customers - it was masses of problems and queries that needed sorting. Managed to get out on time though with a nice empty inbox!
Ive decided its a takeaway evening as im then off to ikea, and then ive stil gotta sort that sodding wardrobe, I usually love building stuff but this thing is a monster, I keep hoping that id come home from work and it would have magically been done, but it never does.
Oh well, another exhausting evening in the JW home tonight.... Oh, and Next STILL havent delivered my posh bin, so I think ill be making a complaint about their delivery service - next day my a$$.

Back from work now and thawing out nicely - so so cold - been snowing here today but hasn't settled.
Everyone was in a foul mood at work  but kept my head down and tried to get on with my work and just kept thinking of the rent and council tax due at the end of the week
OH came home early this afternoon so has done most of the washing up and it's just fish bits and chips/waffles for dinner so that's nice and easy.
Think I'll make a real effort with wedding invites this evening and then get an early night - didn't sleep well last night so am really tired now
Moggins - hugs to your daughter
Bargin Rzl - hope the house situation sorts itself out - we had to move recently because landlords - OH parents - wanted to sell our house (had bought it as an investment whilst he was a student) in a hurry and we were so lucky to find this place - the arrangement fees were much lower than most places - can't believe what most places charge - moving between rented places is so expensive
Kiwichick - don't worry about the driving - I never had a mock test and I did fine - seem to have come more popular recently - only passed about 5 1/2 years ago. Probably makes you more nervous - I was better with my examiner as they were a total stranger and I didn't feel I was letting them down by doing anything wrong
Hope everyone's keeping warm in this weather - take care :wave:Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
