Actually sod it, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I'm just gonna rate VU for everything, then at least I know all rates I get that are less than VU are genuine. I know that's not what Dooyoo is about, but if they do nothing, then it's the only course of action left.

Please, please, please don't! Dooyoo doesn't work when this kind of thing happens. People will still rate low if they are minded to do so and it might not be a genuine rate either - off piste rates come without revenge too!

Ratings should be honest and genuine. There's no point in rating otherwise. In fact, you'd almost be better not rating rather than automatically rating VU!

I have reported it, but haven't received a reply.

I've reported these things a couple of times and I have had responses within a week. Has it been that long? There was one time I thought they had ignored it but eventually they got back to me. I guess these things take time and probably arent' a high priority for them.

Personally I think that if you rate something as somewhat useful or not useful and then get the same rating (or lower) back then that is clearly revenge rating...unless your reviews are really really awful. I think if you get a useful rating after rating something useful that's a good rating still and shouldn't be reported. That's just the way I think and my personal guidelines for reporting things.

A couple of weeks ago I rated a review as somewhat useful (very generously in my opinion) then the person who had never rated one of my reviews before rated my review exactly the same. I knew that it was a good review. Not because it had all very useful's (although it did) but because I honestly couldn't think of a single thing that would make it better. If she had rated it as useful I would have left it because that's still a good rating but there was no way it was somewhat useful.
So I reported it dooyoo and they removed the rating.
So dooyoo do act on these things.

I would say that if dooyoo haven't done anything yet it's either because you haven't given them enough time or because they didn't think it was a revenge rating.

I would not be put off of rating honestly just because of revenge raters. You still get paid and if your review is truly good (which yours usually are in my opinion) then what have you really lost? One rating makes little difference and does not take away from how good your reviews are.

So what's the point of reporting it then? If there's no chance of Dooyoo doing anything, why waste time and effort reporting it!

At the risk of repeating myself, as has been said above, "revenge rating" is a crime that's almost impossible to prove unless the revenge rater has given you an NU... even a rogue SU can never just be labelled an RR outright. You haven't said anything above that says to me that this is definitely revenge rating and, indeed, revenge rating is one of those things that people shout about because they hear others talk about it and they simply don't understand the peer review system. That, and they forget they're the ones telling others to return reads... So then they get a non-VU rating and all hell breaks loose! Yes, the timing is suspicious, but can you prove, with a certainty better than ummm... 80% that it's revenge? You can't!

You can report it if you want, but I honestly think you're wasting your time reporting about it and also wasting Dooyoo's time looking into something can't be proved one way or the other. I'm all for people being pro-active, but I don't want Dooyoo's time wasted when they could be awarding Crowns, tidying the database, processing payouts, tackling solvable abuse etc.

Why don't you message the person and ask what they thought was lacking with your review? If they can give you a good reason why they rated you as somewhat useful then it's probably not revenge rating, if they can't report it to dooyoo.
  • Hello!

I have recently joined Dooyoo and am really enjoying reading and writing reviews. My reviews are not amazing but im hopefully improving as time goes on. I have got loads of advice of this thread and leant a lot about Dooyoo. There is something that is worrying me though and could really do with some help.

I posted a review on a pushchair a few days ago, someone read and rated and i noticed that same day (i think it was within an hour) they had written a review on the same pushchair. I wouldnt of given it a second thought but when i read it i noticed it wasnt exactly the same as mine but used every piece of information from mine just put into her own words with no other info at all. The thing is she dosent have any kids but said she used one once when babysitting. I might just be being silly but i would really appreciate it if someone else could have a look at them (or i can email them) and see what they think?

I would be willing to have a look and see if i think they're the same but I think the best thing to do is report it to dooyoo and let them decide if it's copied or not.

Regardless I would say they have not had enough experience of the product for it to be a decent review. Is the info or the opinion the same? Info can be googled anywhere but opinion can't.
  • This was the lovely email I had from them tonight. All of the reviews are on the site with a 4 star rating.

Unfortunately today we have had to close your account due to plagiarism and
    sub-standard reviews.

In order to be fair to the majority of members on dooyoo, who spend a great
deal of time making sure that each review is of the highest possible quality,
we cannot allow sub-standard Premium Reviews to be awarded. These reviews are
also not useful to consumers using the site to research their product purchases.

    We appreciate your understanding.

What have stars got to do with anything?

Thank you for your reply. It was the info and the opinion were the same. The thing i found strange is that she chose to talk about the exact same points i did and not any other ones. Most of the reviews on pushchairs mention different things as there is so much to talk about. I was only the 3rd person to review this pushchair though. I might just be being paranoid.
