DooYoo - Get Paid to Write Reviews Online

What can you do about a member that doesnt appear to understand that just because you disagree with a review that it should be marked at not useful. Surely anyone with any sense can see that the ratings are based on the content of the review from that persons experience, not whether or not you've had the same experience
In that case, it would probably be worth dropping a line to dooyoo and/or to the category guide. The person may just be misguided, or he/she might be a revenge rater - either way, it's not kosher.
However, the user may have another reason for his/her rating - without reading the review in question, I couldn't say. Is the rater disagreeing with your opinion, or does s/he think you got some factual information badly wrong (I'm not saying you have, just thinking about what might get this particular rater's goat).
Feel free to PM me with the details of the review, and I can then comment in more detail.
Cheers

CheersActually I've calmed down now, I was just annoyed that someone who's just joined and who's churned out 12 reviews in one day that all seem to just get over the 150 words, rated one as not useful. Now even if I disagree completely with someones POV, if its written well it'll still get a useful or VU from me. Even with some of the short ones, I've never seen anything that doesnt contain at least a bit of information so the lowest I've marked one is SU.

Unfortunately, you can't assume that everybody writing and rating reviews on Dooyoo actually has common sense!
I had my first really blatant case of revenge rating. A new member signed up today and wrote about 6 reviews. I read one and (very generously, actually) rated is 'Useful'. 5 mins later the same member had rated one of my crowned reviews (with about 60 VU ratings) as 'Somewhat Useful'!
Normally, I just accept the ratings but this one has really narked me as it was so blatant. They actually went back about 6 reviews - probably thinking I wouldn't notice. I've reported them anyway as they doubled my 'Somewhat Useful' rating with that single rating and I'm not having that!0 -
I had a couple of SU's when I first started. And quite honestly now I think they were justified, because it took me a few reviews to get in the swing of things. But as far as I can see the NU was just because she liked the product and I didnt.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0

Blimey - the churners are out in force today! One member joined yesterday and has already written 81 reviews!!! I can't believe some of the absolute crap people have been posting tonight believing it to be worth the 50p from Dooyoo! To be honest, I'm not at all surprised that people find their accoutns locked and that Dooyoo refuse to pay out the money they think they've 'earned.'
If anybody from MSE has signed up to Dooyoo over the past couple of days I hope they read some existing reviews on there to get an idea of the general standard of reviews, or else I can predict lots of people wanting to complain when Dooyoo refuse to issue their Amazon vouchers or cheques!
I've had another 'useful' from the same revenge rater - grrr! Perhaps why I'm feeling a bit aggrieved about Dooyoo and the churners!0 -

Without wanting to sound harsh, the fact your review was Crowned does not mean it cannot (or should not) get a low rating... even if it's a SU or NU. Common sense dictates that, with so many people on the site with so many different experiences, desires etc. that pretty much every review should have a sprinkling of all rate levels. Different people have different requirements for each product and subsequently each review. This all sounds like teaching your granny to suck eggs, but people get into the mindset where every rating has to be VU or else life isn't worth living any more.
I'm not going to get into a debate about whether this particular rating was "justified" or not, because I'm more concerned about the big picture. Take the ratings as they come. In most cases, it should be almost impossible to identify so-called revege rates and additionally, the concept of "return rating" muddies these waters as more and more people expect people to come read them if they give out rates to specific members. You can't advocate "return rating" then use this as proof of revenge rating.Blimey - the churners are out in force today! One member joined yesterday and has already written 81 reviews!!! You have to laugh at the irony of MSE members complaining about churners especially when, as I've said in this thread previously, people get "thanked" more for telling us about their cheque or vouchers than they do for giving out proper Dooyoo-related advice.0 -
I just happened to glance at the section for Most Reviews Rated, and thought I'd look to see where I was on the list.
According to that I've only rated 707 reviews, when I've actually rated 1,191.
Is there some sort of time delay there?Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -

Probably. But does it matter? In my opinion, you should only be worried about how much you rate in order to check that you're giving back to the site - not whether you rate more than I do, or more than AN other. Speed rating is considered abuse too (and I am not, in any way, shape or form implying that you speed rate - just making the point that the naked numbers are somewhat meaningless).
It is only a number - if you read and rate around, more than you write, you are probably giving back to the community, if you simply speed and sheep rate - giving everything a VU without reading, and opening multiple windows and so forth (and I'm sure you don't - I'm using a generic 'you'), you will get your number up, but they won't be 'meaningful.'
I've found the best way to think of dooyoo is a fun hobby that happens to pay pennies - not a way of earning an income. Once you can do that, I find, you'll get the most out of it, and, you may find, your earnings from dooyoo may well increase per review written as well.
Cheers

No, sorry I didn't mean to sound like I was worried about it, I was just interested in the discrepancy. Just nosey I guess LOL.
I don't speed rate either, I like to give each one my full attention whether its short or long, because someone has taken the time to type it out.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0 -
