If your in West London - there is a good puppy class in Greenford - Greenford Canine Club. £2.50/class. Plus, I think, £5 membership fee for the first year. Very friendly - with free coffee and biscuits.

    Thanks Prudryden,

I have signed up with a puppy school in north London now so i am already ok, but thankyou very much, i am grateful.

Of course their premiums are beatable - aren't everyones? The question is are 'Lifetime' healthcare guaranteed with cheaper companies, or do they only treat each condition for 12 months? This is why i choseNFU - i know other places are cheaper but from my own research they were the cheapest company to guarantee permenant healthcare for the entire life of my dog, which morethan etc do not guarantee, even though they are quite happy to mis sell you a policy under the pretence of giving 'lifetime' cover.

  • Can anyone recommend a good pet insurance.I have a yorksnire terrier who's 1 years old we have no claims, hes tagged etc.The best quote we have is £10.77 with churchill.Any ideas?

  • Well for pet insurance I never go for the cheapest - I always go for the best.

    The best = Petplan

Lots of insurers will change the policy in subsequent years so that it does not cover your pets expensive maladies. (Do some googling on this and see for yourself)

    Petplan always covers.

( As the owner of 2 cats - one bombproof - the other one a regular at the vets - Petplan has been a godsend. ).

As always - do your own homework and make your own choice.

For me & Mrs Troubleatmill - all our pets previous, current and future will be insured by Petplan.

I also use petplan for the same reason. My mutt ran up £1500 for a recurring condition. She'll stay covered regardless of further claims, whereas some others only cover for a year then exclude the condition.
The premiums haven't gone up massively either, considering I'm getting far more out than I pay in at the moment. They'll pay out for medication for her for the rest of her life.
Other insurers may do the same, but it definitely needs checking.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Tesco (cat) has been good + you get the points. My friend also says try M&S not the first that comes to mind I'll admit but says they are good.

The main thing to look out for is whether they pay for life long illnesses like Petplan do. The thing with petplan is that there is an £80 excess. M&S has a no excess policy.

If your cat is a moggy (non pedigree) then it's a crossbred. If it's pedigree you will have to find out what breed it is.
