Hi - I recall seeing several posts criticizing E & L's standard of service and claims handling not just for pet insurance but for other types of cover they arrange.Perhaps they are the cheapest for a reason.0

Please stay away from E&L. Have heard lots of horror stories about them from dog and horse owners
Tesco are very good. You could also try Churchills, Direct Line, morethan, virgin0 -
Warning!! Warning!!
On no account use E & L! Their business practice is sharp to say the least. They work hard at staying at the top of the Best Buy tables at the expense of any service. Claims can take months to settle; even when they have agreed to pay out they will come up with some outlandish excuses not to. I was even told "We have a lot of claims to deal with, you'll have to wait". Excuse me! I feel sorry for the folk who can't afford to pay vet bills so take out this product and are left high and dry by E & L's indifference.
You have been warned!0 -
Hello,
The exact same thing has happened to me! I've never made a claim and my dog insurance was £10 - got a letter from Sainsburies yesterday saying that my premiums were going up to £22 per month!! It's unbelievable and I'm so angry about it! I could understand a few £££s but not over double what we were paying before. I've tried to get other quote but everyone else seems just as expensive! M&S quoted us £400 too! Will keep looking and let you know if I find anything!0 -
Hi
We are with the Halifax
We are on the Extracare policy. Cost us £131.00 for 13 months for a chocolate lab ( now 14 months old )
The policy is very good but would like to reduce the cost.
Did a few quotes from axa, morethan, m&s, moneysupermarket, e&l & argos but none were cheaper for the same cover unless you were prepared to get just about nothing back on the policy in return.
Need to get policy re-newed for the 16th March.
I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good site for pet insurance that gives value for money.

Don't use E&L Pet Insurance.
I put claim in July 2006 and even though settlement has been agreed I am still waiting for the cheques. There have been months and months of wrangling over £129.78! They are terrible.
I have gone back to Pet Plan now.0 -
Are Animal Friends any good? I have 2 cats who are about 14 and need to sort out insurance. Any suggestions?:T Quidco - £210.12:j0

No!!
They are underwritten by E&L who have a disgraceful track record for not paying out. I am afraid cheap is not always best. Try doing a search (Google) for NFU Mutual, they were very reasonable with my pet insurance and are very reputable. They provide £4000 per condition per year, unlike others who withdraw cover after 12 months.
Here is the link, they do not quote online so you need to phone them. http://www.nfumutual.co.uk/you/pet-insurance/index.htm

I would recommend PetPlan, PDSA, and RSPCA pet insurance in that order.Keeley x0

Petplan wanted £60 a month to insure my dog, RSPCA were not much better - NFU wanted £23. I think a lot of people are priced out by petplan - i know i was so i shopped around.0
