We were looking at More Than for our two dogs, but when we read the T&Cs we realised that it's £3,000 or £7,000 (depending which option you choose) per condition, and when we spoke to some of our friends we found that my cousin has actually reached the £7,000 limit on her labrador's hips because he's had two hip replacements plus ongoing medication etc. She also found that they didn't cover hydrotherapy, which can be very beneficial in these instances. Also, although it says £7,000 per incident/illness, when you actually read the big policy wording document it seems that illnesses with the same clinical signs are treated as one incident.... so if a dog gets an illness then 9 months later gets the same illness, then it comes out of the same pot of money, which is how her dog has reached the limit on the hips... although it's two seperate claims... it's still his hips so it's come out of the same £7,000 pot
Also.... with Morethan... once your cat is 9 or over you have to pay the excess PLUS 20% of the claim so if it was £500 of treatment you'd pay a £75 excess, plus £85 of the claim. Other companies, like Axa, don't charge you a % of the claim when the cat/dog reaches a certain age.
I know you didn't ask about other companies, but we've just had a really competitive quote from homebase who are now covering £7,500 per year (so every year we get another £7,500 pot of money) plus lots of other benefits and we only pay £36 for both our labradors.Success' of 2012:-Debts:Student Loans: £28,7580 -
Hi
My cat has renal problems just recently, and is on life long medication, I'm confused as to which insurance to put her on as most insurers won't go near a pet with a diagnosed problem - what did you do in the end?
Thanks

hello everyone!
i have 2 11 week old kittens, one male, one female, and I am trying to organise their insurance.
can anyone recommend a company that will allow me to insure the 2 of them at once online? ive tried a few online companies but its always insuring them one at a time.
maybe what i am wanting isnt possible but perhaps someone could let me know if they have found it possible!
also how do you know if its for life insurance rather than yearly?
thanks in advance0 -

Personally, I'd recommend AXA, which is a 'for life' policy.
I'm not sure what you mean about insuring them both at once? You'll have to input details for both kittens whoever you go with, so that is one at a time I suppose.
AXA used to give a 5% discount for your second pet, but I'm not sure if they still do.
You can choose the excess amount you want to pay and although it's a long way off for your two they don't penalise older cats by making you pay a percentage of any claim.
PS We love kitten photos on here, so if you have your camera available...............:)0 -
Yes AXA still give a discount I think. If you go there they ask you something like "have you a pet already insured with us". Give them a ring.0

I'm trying to get quotes for a mongrel I've just rescued, and they don't seem to want to give me a quote online.
Would anyone, by any chance, know if this is a common problem? AXA has managed to give me a quote...
Thank you.0 -
Healthy Pets.
August 2010 renewal comes in at ...wait for it ...£746.67 per year !!! was paying £29 a month now they want £62.22 a month excess has also increased from £60 to £75 and because one dog is over 5 years old they want £75 PLUS 25% of the claim!!
perhaps they are not so great after all ?0 -
Ridiculous, but not uncommon. Are you able to change?0

have you made any claims or taken the dogs to the vet for anything?0

Hi,
Exactly the same has happened to me today! 3 cats previously insured for £22 a month, todays quote was £59.80 per month or £717.59 per annum. Strangely enough, my cancellation email has already gone off with the explanation that I could save that amount in an ISA to pay for any future bills. I initially rang up to cancel and the poor lady on the other end of the phone couldn't even be bothered to ask why. I'm guessing that I wasn't the first today!
I was always a staunch supporter of Healthy Pets but no longer.0
