It's not just Tescos - all insurers seem to do this, relying on people not to bother after joining. Call them and quote other charges that you could move to and see what they say - my Mum did that with DirectLine (albeit before the new year started) and they dropped the charge.0

Im surprised AXA is that much cheaper than More Than. Are you looking at the lifetime policy or the limited amount policy?0

Has anybody used them? any good? I'm leaning towards m&s or axa at the moment as i've heard good things about them on here....just want to make sure i get good cover as my cat's a wee bit older...0

I haven't used More Than, but wanted to advise against M&S. I was with them for a year then they changed underwriters from AXA to someone else and not only did their premiums shoot up, their cover went down and their terms weren't good.
I went directly to AXA. Theirs is a proper for life policy and they don't penalise older pets (My cat's 11)
I know several people on here use AXA and they all seem please with them.0 -
More than dont have "for life" policies - they are limited to the pot amount and once thats gone you are on your own.
M and S and Axa both have for life policies (but also do economy ones now, so be careful). In my opinion, out of the two, Id go for AXA.0 -
when i adopted an Oldie (14yo) cat I found Axa offered the best cover - they do not charge a percentage excess of vets fees - just a flat amount of either £75 or £50 (you decide which excess you prefer, obv this affects the premium).0

Hi there,
We've gone with the PDSA for our beagle. £3,000 pa vet fees, ongoing care, £500 death benefit, £1 million 3rd party liability, £250 accidental damage, £500 recovery expenses, £650 boarding fees, £500 for loss by straying/theft, £1000 for holiday cancellation.
Cost ? £7.20 pcm. They don't charge interest on monthly payments either. We thought it was a competitive quote for those things we thought important, best of all it's really affordable. Just hope we never have to use it.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -
Our premiums for Stella have gone up by around 40% with M&S for Stella, from £12 to £17.That's my mutt in the picture above.0
