Another £6 off for me today
What a great idea this is. Instead of me frittering away, I put it to debt. If I don't have it, I can't spend it! Makes me really think more about money.
Thanks Emily - I hope things are going well with you and that you win thread of the month (I voted for you today too). You deserve a little treat.Debt at lightbulb moment: £44,220. Paid off to date: £27,634 (62%) :j
Halifax CC (0% 10 months): £9,000; Zopa Loan = £7,586([STRIKE]36[/STRIKE] 16 payments to go) TOTAL = £16,5860 -
Well - since joining the challenge earlier this week, have managed to save an extra £20 towards my debt. Have been paid today (which included some pay arrears:j ) and have just worked out that I can pay £444.36 off my debt today:T - I'd rather that £20 went towards the debt than getting frittered away!
Luckily, I get 2 lots of child benefit this month - so the first one is going straight to card!!! If I hadn't joined this thread, I'd probably have gone out & bought something with it!!!
I'm also going to start puting some aside from my daily cash spend & will pay this to card weekly!!
Should be easily able to pay the card off by christmas - will then start doing my 'payment a day' to savings (which have taken a real bashing over the last year!)20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

It's amazing how, with a bit of thinking, you can stretch your budget, isn't it?
I find myself thinking " do I really need it? can i get it cheaper, wait a bit longer?" so I can find that days payment!!!!
I'm saving to my ISA too, this is meant to be my kids uni fund, but have had to borrow money from it, so my payment a day is repaying them
I couldn't agree more stressed.mum. I find myself now thinking that if I don't spend on this or that then tomorrow I'll be able to add something more to the ISA. Just seeing that amount go up every day gives me such a boost and it's the first thing I do every day. That and seeing the picture of my daughter and granddaughter (which is my desktop background picture) every morning makes a great start to each day.
I've never been a saver hence the dmp!! but this challenge has just changed the way I think about saving.
Another £6.17 today to the ISA so now it's £83.19.Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - DFW Nerd 323
