  • I've just worked out that I can pay my Vanquis (£76.23 less £2 paid less £5 direct debit) in the next 40 days before year end if I pay 1.75 a day! I've paid £1.85 today as I worked it out wrong (Forgot about Direct Debit!) Think I'll pay up to the 28th to make sure I don't overpay them!!

Glad everyone else is doing so well!!!

  • Hi everyone, payment-a-day on hold for today as I am having a nerve-wracking day - we've seen a new property we really want to rent!

We have to wait until 3.45pm to go and view it, then we are hoping the landlady is interested in tenants after a longer term let, as we have kids in school/nursery in the area.
It is also slightly over our budget so we are hoping to do a deal with the landlady, based on the fact we would sign a longer term tenancy. The asking rent is £675/month (3-bed semi). We are going in for £625/month rent for minimum 2 year term, with 6 months upfront as our offer - what do you think? Do you think we stand a chance?!
(P.S. 6 months upfront is bank of mum and dad!)
The other thing is that if it all went right then we would need to give a months notice on this place and would need to know asap in order to move just before christmas!

It's so nerve-wracking...!!!! I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that we can get it exactly the way we wish! Will keep you posted!!!

I'd say go for it, the flat we have just moved into we are paying £25 less per month than it was advertised for. I think with the current economy most landlords/ladys are just so desperate to have paying tenants in the property. Good luck and let us know how you get on!!
