  • Hi - been lurking and just signed up.
I want to get rid of the credit card debt and then start on the loan - still need to set payment for this up with internet banking rather than phoning the call centre to pay by card.
Paid £9.00 off credit card today. Waiting for Paypal and Amazon to transfer money through at the end of the week so can pay more off then.
Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j
To start work on the credit cards now!!

Ive been doing this for a while now but I didnt realise there was a thread on this! Its quite amazing how you dont miss the small amounts but they can have a huge impact on the debt.

Anyway, as its payday on friday and I have food and enough cash to last me till then, I decided to do some more transferring and paid:

£7.26 off the council tax bill (I overpaid a touch recently, but this payment will make the next 5 payments £50 each - a nice round figure)
£2.74 off the sofa (I have 4 payments of £141.19 each left on this, so I cancelled the direct debit and will pay manually - the direct debit date of the 11th was inconvenient anyway) and will make payments of £145 in future to clear it that tiny bit quicker)
£0.89 off the credit card, as this rounded down the amount left to pay to £2035 - another nice round figure!

I recently split up with my ex (some may remember me talking about my vague unhappiness a while back, when I used to be a regular on here) and he moved out a week ago, meaning all the bills are now mine (scary) but I have just had two rapid promotions, so the payrises over the last month or so will compensate for some of the lost income (handy!). Its a bit scary, knowing that I only get paid once a month as he used to be paid weekly, but I have worked out a full budget and should hopefully manage by myself. I do need to clear about £5k of debt, but I have a plan, and this type of payment activity certainly helps!

Anyway, enough talking, I need to get to bed as I am shattered and have a long day tomorrow!

    Jo xx

  • I've not been able to pay anything for a few days because I've had no money. I was just about to go to bed when I thought I'd check my bank ...for the gazillionth time today and I finally had some child maintenance paid into my account :j

So I'v just paid £6.47 to my barclaycard. It's not much but I need to pay £74 council tax and tomorrow i'm gonna go food shopping as its been over a month!!!

I'm definately gonna pay off this card this month if it's the last thing I do. Then I'm going to update my SOA because I've paid quite alot towards me debts since I started 6 weeks ago. I am sooo looking forward to becoming debt free and being able to save.
    Initial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80
    Debt now Jan 2021 - £6,208.21
    Overpayment pot - £0
