That is so upsetting when things don't work out as you expect (((hugs)))
I think the interrest is worked out the month before and the extra you've paid will make a difference on next months interest  but not sure, why not ring them and ask x

Morning everyone:hello: . It's really nice to see more people joining in. There's a real positive vibe in this thread.

Anyway, despite thinking that I wouldn't be able to transfer anything this week as I had no money, I have actually managed to transfer £5 yesterday and £8 today because I received the final ever payment for child benefit. Unfortunately we no longer qualify as my daughter is too old now. I also have about £40 sitting in paypal for ebay sales.:j

If you remember me mentioning the bank charges in the joint account, well I contacted the bank (Smile Bank) and they initally refused to refund any of the charges and then offered a measly £30 (the charges that I have worked out from the available online statements was £285 but I think there maybe more). So last night I set up a new account with Alliance & Leicester (£100 rewarded for moving the account to them and £50 through Quidco) and have now printed out the first letter to Smile to reclaim all of the bank charges plus interest.

Sad really, if Smile had offered me £100 as a goodwill gesture I'd have happily stayed with them  There loss!

  • Hi everyone,

I was wondering if I could join in this challenge to? You've all done so well and I feel very inspired!!

I've got £608 on a credit card and £700 on an argos card (0% until December) that I really want to clear, I do have online banking but I think a lot of my payments will be cash so will add it up at the end of the month.

I started yesterday and paid £20 into my piggy bank and today I paid £20 off my credit card!

    So a good start YAY!!
