My daughter wanted a baby sock monkey ( she is 21 !!! ) So I tried my first baby today

Mr Chalkys monkey had eye surgery today as Mr Chalky thought his one called Dubs had eyes that were too far apart.
Luckily the local anaethestic proved successful and he was only in intensive care for a little while.
Sight not damaged but no more cosmetic surgery planned !!
Try and do a good deed every day.

sorry i didn't reply sooner I have just got back from holiday. My oh thought that i was mad whilst souring the local markets for socks for sock monkeys. My son was holding up socks shouting "what about these for sock monkeys mam" i ended up with 20 pairs in various stripey colours
    anyway
i got the green stripy socks from the boys section in asda they came in a 5 pack. the stripey ones that i used for the hat was a 5 pack from the womens section in asda.. hope that helps.

    Thanks for that angelkay

are you from "up north" by any chance? its just with you saying "mam" instead of "mum" makes me think you must live round near me somewhere;)

i thought that i would let you know of my bargains just in case anyone was looking for those hairbands to use as skirts etc. while i was in woolies yesterday they had a basket full of kids hair accessories reduced then with a further 20% off. i bought a couple packs that had 2 of thebands that look like balerina type skirts iykwim. worked out at 20p a band some had beads ,bells and some had flowers sewn at the end of the netting. i also got a pack that had 4 hair bands with pink glittery pom poms at the end that i plan on using for hats. they also came with 4 glittery hairslides for 80p.
    hope that helps someone

Hello everybody. I am new to this posting although I am a regular follower on many MSE threads. My favourites at the moment are on special occasions and I think some of the things you guys make are fantastic.
I especially love the sock monkeys and wish i could make them but unfortunately i' m not able due to birth deformities of my arms.
However I feel I must reply to the post from Angie about sellers on ebay undercharging. There are no minimum charges set out by anybody as to how much people should charge for them so surely it is up to the individual to estimate the lowest amount she would like to receive. If I could make something as nice as this I would be prepared to sell them cheap as long as my outlay was covered, because my pleasure would be from somebody feeling that my product was good enough to buy.
There is one lady on the Nappy cake thread who posted yesterday that she is happy to just make a £5 profit from one of her cakes. Obviously she feels that is enough.
If you are making hand made goods to earn a wage then yes i would say to charge more but the way i read on special occasions threads, most crafters are making for hobbies and enjoyment.
So please ladies think twice before slating the good people who are just producing goods as a way of passing the time and fullfilling their days. As having a disability myself I know many many ladies who are housebound and making things like the monkeys would give them so much enjoyment, and, by being able to sell via the internet would enhance the pleasure they would get.
We are not a nation full of greedy money grabbing folk.
Sorry in advance if you feel i have upset anybody by writing what i feel BUT we are all entitled to our opinion.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYBODY AND KEEP POSTING THE PICS FOR ME TO ADMIRE

Sorry to drag this up but haven't been on this thread for a while ... I think I may well be the nappy cake lady you mention, I only make an extra couple of quid ontop of costs, I start from £5 for my cakes aswell :o I do it because I enjoy it.

I do agree with the ebay thing though, start your prices at the price you are happy to let them go for :)
