  • I finished my first sock monkey last night. I used toe socks, thinking it wouldn't really matter, but just caused loads of extra work for myself! And did it all by hand, as I couldn't be bothered to fetch the machine - this I will be bothered next time!!

Anyway, he's not great, but I love him!

    Hi All

Just thought you would like to see the sock monkey I made for my nephew's birthday. He really liked it and despite his cool 11 year old friends being there when I gave it to him they loved it too. I knitted (1st attempt) the scarf and hat and made the bobble to go onto the hat. I adapted a show pattern to make footy boots and added the newcastle pin badge. I also glued the football to a piece of velcro so the ball can be taken off.

I had so much fun making him, need to finish the girlie ones now.

oops he is a bit big sorry.

    Hi everyone

Regarding Sock Monkey accessories, I'm rackign my brains trying to think of a cheap way to make a sort of money belt / bum bag to go on sock monkies. it needs to be as cheap as poss (whilst still being decent of course :) ) as it's to raise money for charity.

Sigh, it started with me offering to make some for a group who would be meeting in May. I mentioned it to the organised who embraced the idea a bit too well (:rotfl: ) and expanded the simple sock monkey to one with some medical equipement attached, that happens to look like a money belt. I've not idea where I'm going to find the time to make the accessories too

Does anyone have any ideas please?

    Thanks
    Shortie

    Hi Shortie

How about using the toe/heel that you are left with to make the bag:confused: its already in the shape of a bum bag, thats what I would do:D

pinky when you get your sewing machine out sew all the monkeys in one batch. then you can pack it away and sew them up at your leisure. i tend to do them in colours. all the ones that require dark thread together, then the lighter ones etc. i store them in small food bags until i'm ready to stuff them . I also save all unused toes and heels for when you do someting like this one you did that didn't have a heel to use for the nose.. ...I love this one tho, the colours are great.:T
  • Thanks chatty, that's a really good idea! I do have a lot of unwanted old socks...!!
