    These are brilliant. I'm going to make one for my boyfriend for Christmas. He'll be doubly pleased as I'll have to hide upstairs while I make it so it will give him plenty of time to be on his own and play his geeky computer games that I'm always nagging him about!

    Sharon that is stunning! Well done! Mine is *STILL* sat in the draw half completed. :(

    Just quickly though I passed a surf kind of shop earlier on ... they had 4 or 5 sock monkeys on the shelves and were charginf £15 for them. That is shocking as us ladies over here know that they cost nowhere near that amount!

  • I used just ordinary ladies socks, I think they are about mid calf legnth. I got 5 pairs in Primark for £2.00

    Thankyou Sharon_1970 have just ordered myself some stuffing off Ebay and am going to make a start on making one for my fellas birthday Army Hamper. Going to do a camoflauge one if i can find some socks for it.

    This is the link to the photo of my sock monkey and tiger! (My daughter didn't want a monkey!)

    Whoever said they are more fiddly to make than they look was right though, it's quite difficult to machine sew the sock fabric and my stripes don't quite line up as a result :-(

  • hehe that made me smile :) the monkeys are fab, just in the middle of doing my first ever one, and its so easy the only thing im struggling with is the stuffing i dont have any. would cotton wool work??? not that i have any of that either lol. i do have old tights but not sure if they would work properly?

    i am eyeing up my pillow at the moment, and thinking....will i????
