Chatty - he is so cute - so did you use the inside of the sock to get the rough texture?? Looks very effective.
yes angie it's a spotted sock but i much prefer the inside out look even on the toes which forms the head.. so now i'll be shopping for socks but turning them inside out 1st.... lol0 -

Well Ive been truly busy making sock monkeys as Ive been asked to sell my bits at a toddler group next month (just waiting for a date confirmation)so making up some stock. I have 8 on the go now as I find it easier to do them in bulk!! I love the idea of the hats so might have to do some.
Im also going to take along my nappy cakes and cupcakes and make some more neutral ones as you never know they might sell like hot cakes!!!!!!
Next problem will be the prices. How much would you all think reasonable for a sock monkey?? Would love to hear your suggestions please. I will wrap them in cellophane and finish with some ribbon. I have in mind prices for the nappy cakes because they depend on whats in them and I wouldnt charge much for my time as I really enjoy doing them.
Thanks for any help.
Dora xx
Dora I have the same problem i really don't know what to sell them for. I've had 5 orders this week (although i didn't intend to make them to sell!!!) and i don't really know what to charge so thinking £10 ish simply because of the amount of time it takes!!!Little Miss Chatterbox

Shelley if you cover your cost of materials and packaging and you've had lots of fun making em then anything extra will be a bonus....
if you had to charge for time and your like me they'd be a weeks wage lol
but saying that the last one i made inside out took me less than an hour from start to finish and thats because as it was inside out you didn't have to be too careful making the stitching invisible...0 -

Shelley - I think £10 sounds reasonable, it's not so much the materials as the time it takes!!!0 -
Here are my cutey's I made for my cousins...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

All the monkeys are looking great- and now i can catch up after my first attempt... Tesco have a sewing machine reduced from £50 to £25 which i got tonight - didn't expect it to be much good but it's a whole load better than mum's old toyota one and a cheap mini one i got from ebay. so i now have 3 sewing machines, but one actually of them works!
Trouble is, i got so excited that it worked, that i got carried away and started to make it upside down (stitched the legs on the toe half of the sock, rather than the leg half). hoping i can rescue it and turn the silly stumpy legs into bunny ears... will post the results when i try it!
Yayyyy more monkeys0
