  • Hi ev1,
Well Ive been truly busy making sock monkeys as Ive been asked to sell my bits at a toddler group next month (just waiting for a date confirmation)so making up some stock. I have 8 on the go now as I find it easier to do them in bulk!! I love the idea of the hats so might have to do some.
Im also going to take along my nappy cakes and cupcakes and make some more neutral ones as you never know they might sell like hot cakes!!!!!!

Next problem will be the prices. How much would you all think reasonable for a sock monkey?? Would love to hear your suggestions please. I will wrap them in cellophane and finish with some ribbon. I have in mind prices for the nappy cakes because they depend on whats in them and I wouldnt charge much for my time as I really enjoy doing them.
    Thanks for any help.

Hi Dora, well done you :) ... I would say they probably cost at max £4 ish to make? but then there is your time etc. I know online shops sell these for £20, and some stores in the metro centre sell them for £30

How about a start price of £15? or maybe £10?

  • here is the baby of the family.... this one is inside of the sock and i think it looks pretty cool

i wouldn't know what to charge anybody for the monkeys as i too just do it for fun. i supposse you have to look at the cost (which is very little) and then add on your hourly rate....i also think that you'd sell more to one person at a realistic price

  • There are some on eBay for about a fiver...

My mom asked me if I was making mine to sell... But I'll just give them to all small relatives... Not good enough to sell... But very fun to make!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • Rusty-wow, I sold one for a £5 to a friend for her neices christmas present and I felt guilty about that lol. Maybe I shouldnt though! Ill see what sort of feedback I get at the toddlers for £5 and if they go well I might put them up a little bit.
    Thanks for your advice.

Chatty - he is so cute - so did you use the inside of the sock to get the rough texture?? Looks very effective.

Well I have finally finished the stripey one for my sisters birthday. It was much harder as the socks didn't have much stretch in them!!!! I like the ears better on this one!!!
