Primark etc. sell the plain ones for about 7 pairs for £2 in all sorts of bright colours.
If you have one the same colour as the heel on your knee high sock, then you can use that as the mouth.
Cut the legs the length you want and the bit left over is enough for the tail and the arms, you just need an extra bit for the mouth, hence the heel from a pair of plain socks.
Yep - have done that before.
The Pound Shop had some over the knee pink socks with skulls on, but it was a while ago. May be worth a look.
I'm looking for black and white socks for someone. You would thin k it would be easy in NewcastleMay have to resort to one black and one white sock if I can't find any.

I think it's about time one of the Sock Monkey gang on this thread did a Martin Lewis one. I'm sure you can compete with this http://blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2010/09/27/new-knitted-mini-martin-he-saves-the-pennies-not-the-pounds/.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Well, my pink striped monkey still isn't finished. I took his button eyes off and plan to sew them on as I don't think they looked right. I have done the mouth though, and that looks quite good. I have alss started a 2nd monkey out of some fluffy style socks which was a bit of a nightmare and I think why I have put it on the back burner! I do hope to get them finished soon and pics posted up.
The talk of 'copying' is just silly and you would never be able to get away from things like that as that's the whole idea to share and gain inspiration, not least of all in forums such as these. Life is full of variations; just look at high street fashion where cheaper stores like Primark will make a 'variation' of a bag/shoe/top/coat that resmbles a more expensive make. Unless you have the copyright/patent on eye/mouth/sock pattern type, then sadly there's not much you can do about it.0 -

Shelly I picked up some socks in Asda in the dale. More boyish really but my DD was uber skull/rock chick mad before Bieber came on the scene & she likes them.
I'll pop a pic on once camera is charged up.
Said skull socks are needing to be made upsaide down due to pattern run. Those who have done this in the past, have you found you had shorter legs & did they look OK. I knew whan I bought them I'd have to fashion a head from the toe area but hadn't thought about the length of the legs.0 -
How do people do the bobble hats for the monkeys? Do you buy another pair of socks in the same pattern?0

Thank you Hogshead I will have a look in my local AsdaI have made a few that had to be done upside down and they are fine. I round off my heads anyway and don't use the toe so didn't make much difference .
