Good luck everyone:)For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. Please don’t let the festivities and cold weather prevent you from giving them the ultimate gift… give blood.0 -
OMG!! How fab - want to make the 'draughtie dog'! Wanted to buy one but they are about £25!
Made my first sock monkey last night (will try and post pic later) and I too, had to make it upside down and made mine like Shelley3774 with the rounded head. I think they are fab and so easy to make!Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas."

I made up this monkey tonight for my friend who has asked me to make 2 this week for her. I really like it except the fact that you can see the seams on the arms and the stripes don't match on one arm...never mind I know next time to sew them the other way around:o:o oh and we have named her Dorothy x

Shelly I really like how your arms look like they come from the back & round. Mine come from the side & stick out like twigs. Can you please post a pic of side view & close up as both yours & gemsmembers look better than mine ( aswell as loks of others but I like your arm angle )
Thanks0 -
Hi Hogshead I am the worst photographer ever so I apologise for the pic! I tried to take a photo of the side but it's all blurry but the rear view one seemed better. I tend to indent the arms and put slightly less stuffing in the neck where the arms go. If you make the neck thinner it also makes the mouth look a bit bigger I found. I then press firmly into the neck when stitching around the arm. Hope this makes sense. Oh and the arms do still stick out a bit I pushed them in for the photo

Thanks for the pic.
When you say indent the arms: I'm not quite sure I understand...OK I don't at all. Can you explain a little.
Sorry to badger you but sewing as I am doing I'm not happy. That said the one I am currently doing, the sock stretched more than my first & it looks gigantic so I am not liking it anyway so that doesn't help.0 -

Sorry I should explain myself better when I sew the arms on I position them further back and push them firmly into the side of the monkey as I sew this seems to do it for me. I know what you mean about gigantic socks I bought knee high ones and I'm not sure if I like the look so may keep the rest to keep my feet and legs warm in winter
Cuddles Postman Pat is fab !!!My Nan knitted me one that looks like that - you are very clever x
