  • Good advice Gemsmember!:j

Any advice to make sure the stripes match? Mine don't always :o

  • I hand tack them first before stitching on the sewing machine.

They do take a bit longer to make, but I cut and tack several pairs whilst watching the TV.

I stuff very firmly. I use about 200-250gsm of stuffing in each monkey. I use the knob end of a knitting needle to push the stuffing in and the sharp end to move it about a bit, but you do have to be careful with the point - it can go through the sock and ruin them (ask me how I know LOL!!).

I indent the neck of the sock so the arms are fitted, rather than have them hanging loosely.

I sell my monkeys to order so have to be fairly certain that they will look the same as each other, as the customers don't see them until they receive them. You still can't be 100% that they will all look the same though, because even two socks the same, will stuff slightly differently.

One thing I am fussy about though, is that the stripes match, that is a pet hate of mine and the one thing that annoys me if I buy a garment or something, I always look to see if the stripes match.

LOl re the stripes. I made a set yesterday only to turn the right side out & find they are slighlty squew-if (not matching/level )

The highlighted part I don't quite get but I know I like the overal look. Are you able to explain or is it a trade secret.

I really have to get off the pc for a while so will nip back in later. Hope you all have a nice day.

  • You'll need to cut your duck and cupcakes the other way up because otherwise the designs will be upside down. It isn't too difficult to get the feet out of the toe and then shape the cuff to make the top of the head.
  • Yep that's what I got planned! fingers crossed!

  • He looks cute, with a more rounded head.

When I make them upside down, I use the cuff of the sock as well, so they have a darker bit on the top and look more like the normal ones with the toes on top, but I quite like the rounded looktoo
  • Thanks gemsmember I think I prefer the rounded head on this one to the one I made earlier. I may stick with this and practice on getting the mouth bit bigger too x
