I stitch mine by machine and they still take 3 hours or more to make - perhaps it is because I stuff them firm and spend quite a while making sure they are a good shape etc.
At the moment I have got pin holes and splits in my fingers where I have been making quite a few of them. The hand stitching of the ears, nose etc. takes quite a while, and I can't wear a thimble0 -

i am just eating a creme egg - cheap in tesco, i got 3 boxes of 12!! i love them!!! anyway, i back stitch mine using double thread as well and then re sew it. that is because i saw on here someone saying they did and my first ones were for my kids and i know how rough they are with toys!!!
Even on the sewing machine i do 2 lots of stitching. it has taken me 4 days to do 2.5 sock monkeys for my mate and I used the sewing machine.
i usually start at around 7 -8 pm depending on what time kids go to bed and i finish around 11pm - 12.30am! but then i am checking facebook all the time!! :rotfl:
here is my latest. look a while doing the knitting as well.0 -

i am always stabbing myself and have a really bad patch on my finger from crocheting which i keep catching with the thread when i am sewing!! :rotfl: is it worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
I read on an earlier message that someone can make one in 45 minutes. I just don't know how. I have been making them for over 1 year now and still can't get it done in less than 2.5 - 3 hrs.
I always match the stripes/pattern by hand first and then stitch twice on the machine. The ears/nose/tail/arms are stitched on so many times as I want to be sure they won't get pulled off, so all that takes quite a while.
Although I don't knit my hats, they do come with personalised embroidery on them and getting that done can take at least 30 minutes, so it is looking more like 3.5 hours to get one made from start to finish.0 -
Aww they're so lovely, I am waiting to get my sewing machine fixed so that I can have a go!! I would sew by hand.. But I am completely rubbish!!
They all look great.. LOVE THEM!!!I am a very proud Mummy and Wifey
