He is expecting one? In the words of Dylan Moran in Black Books "Expect away!"

I think making you do one by Friday is a little harsh :(

Those were more my DD's words rather than his, lol. He offered to pay me though! (but i'm not taking his money lol)

ETA: We are actually moving house at the weekend too, so surrounded by boxes and still more packing to do!!!!

I think in those circumstances I would ask him to understand that things are busy at present and that he needs to wait a little longer for one. That is definitely not enough time for it not to get in the way of other things, especially moving! I don't mean to sound mean but I think you should wait, seems a little hard on you otherwise, or... you could ask your daughter to do some of the things you would normally do so that you have time to make it, like some washing up or hoovering etc :)

Just started making my 1st sock monkey - have been meaning to make one for ages but only just got started.

All of your pictures are so good - can only hope mine is half as good. Got all the pieces sewn and all looks good, but just realised havent got enough stuffing, so he'll have to wait for now!

3tabbycats - they are amazing! I love the hats. are they easy to do?

Yep, very easy and I'm no knitter! I cast on 24 stitches or 28 if it's a larger mans sock, then knit 2, purl 2 until it's about 20-25 cm long. (Long enough to allow the hat to have a bit of a turn up) Then I fold it in half length ways and sew up both sides so I've got a rectangle & pull the corners in a little bit. Then sew a pom pom on each corner. Done!
    Hope that makes sense!

Yes that is a huge help. That is kind of what I am doing but i only do knit not the purl. Will have to look into this purl stitch as I think they are great! Thanks for letting me know. My next lot will have hats like that. probably should get smaller knitting needles. mine are 5 1/2 mm which is ok when i use feathered wool, when i use normal wool it looks a bit silly!!!! what size do you use?

    I use either 4mm or 4 1/2mm..
Feathered wool?! I've tried that, it looks so nice but it's a nightmare to use! You must have much more patience than me!
