LJM Thanks for the compliments. I have no idea where i got these socks. it's one i made a while ago, so it would be ages since i bought them, and i buy that many from so many dif places.
Also friends & family also pick some up for me if they're out shopping and see good socks, ( have them all on sock hunts)
I am away at the mo but when i go home tomor i will look in my box to see if i have any left with the labels on.
sorry for not being very helpul.0 -
Just spotted this and thought I could have a go as we are on a very tight budget this year and have three young kids but I have a question, my oldest is a very sick boy with a life limiting condition and part of the condition means he keeps getting Hypothermia so we are always trying to keep him warm.
so~~~~brain ticking over, has anyone tried filling the body and legs with wheat and using them as a hot wheat bag? does it work? do you think it would work or would all the wheat drop into the legs0 -
Sounds a good idea ifits though I'd be a tad concerned some socks might melt in the microwave, unless you got cotton ones ofc.
Maybe a flap made in the back so a bag of wheat could be slipped in the main body part, that way it could be taken out to be heated up and put back.
I made a sock pig and punk zebra for some friends for an advent swap, now they've been opened I can show them to you
few details on my craft blog which you can find a link to on my profile. You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -

oh they are fab! Well done you!:T How do you do the pig? May have to branch into other animals for next year!
Anyway I managed to finish 5 of mine at the weekend yay!! 3 still need eyes, (need to get buttons) but are all finished apart from that. Also 2 1/2 scarves knitted for them....:D
Aim to do one more monkey this week, one next week, and get the scarves finished by end of next week then all will be ready to go yay!
Pics to follow....;)0 -
Thanks loupoppins
The pig is a pale pink sock with from the heel down stuffed, end sealed with a loose stitch pulled tight, like a draw string, excess cut off and rolled into a ball.
I then put a dark pink sock over it, and cut it above the heel, (so the foot bit is cut off, leg part is over the ball) and did the same drawstring effect stitch and pull to the end, but tucked the end inside so it didnt show.
It has 4 legs which are 4 balls of stuffing slipped inside, sewn around and pulled slightly to hold in place.
The ears are similar to the sock monkeys, but I folded them in half at the open end and sewn them up to make more of a closed pig ear shape.
The tail is a rectangular piece with a piece of elastic fastened to the one end before folding in half width ways and sewing around top and side. Turn inside out and pull elastic slightly, this make the tail curl, and allows it to be pulled and spring back in place. Sew all pieces onto the main part.
Can you understand that or is it (as usual) clear as mud?
When I find time I'll make another and do pictures at each stage. You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
I bought a pack of 2 pink striped socks from the pound shop today!
The pig one is lush!
I'm not sure what animal to start off with - what's the quickest and easiest?
I am thinking these would make good gifts if I embroidered names on them or something.50p/£24.00 Xmas 2010:rudolf:
