I think having the name on the t-shirt would work well. Could you use the other bit of writing on the tail ? might be worth a try, seeing as you would be cutting the sock up to use the name anyway.
Just realised it's in the wrong place for the tail it could be along a leg i suppose?!

  • So I am now a sock monkey addict and keep thinking of new ideas. My only disappointment is the eyes, I really want some small black buttons with 4 holes so that I can make them with a white button then a black one. Does anyone know where I could get them from? I have tried hobbycraft and some other wool and fabric shops near me to no avail

Have you got any ideas for stuffing other than wadding? I dont really want to buy anything and i havent got any old tights!!

I thought maybe rice or shredded paper?
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

Not sure about rice but would think newspaper would be too hard and also bit of a fire hazard.I spent £1.25 on a large cushion pad from Home Bargains and its filled with soft polyester thats fire retardent to BS and have done one from it and have loads left for couple more.May be you have some cushions that need replacing and you can pinch the stuffing -recycling better than throwing away!

It does get easier but I still need to work on attatching of limbs :rotfl:

Have now started a pink girlie one for my dd and I'm halfway through a dammit doll and halfway through repairing my son's blanket

Have cotton and scraps of fabric everywhere :D

I've actually been using the filling of one of the spare hollowfibre pillows I've got - it was only cheap and tbh never been used as its not that good as a pillow - I prefer feather ones!

Sharon59 - was just about to reply to your post and its disappeared - very disconcerting LOL!! Anyway, couldn't view the photo which is probalby why you've deleted it!!

Also wanted to say - THANK YOU sooooooo much for the buttons you sent me - they are lovely and perfect for sock monkeys!! and all the extra bits you sent are just lovely!! It was really kind of you and I'm welling up here at your kindness!! And how oh how did you know that butterflies are my all time favourite things!! Your kindness has touched me and will not be forgotten!!

Have nearly finished my 2nd sock monkey and I'm loving him already - he's mean't to be for my nephew but as I said to my OH last night I actually don't think I'm going to be able to give any of my sock monkeys away cos I love them LOL!!! We'll be over-run before we know it!!
