Donna, if I only had half the patience and skill that yourself and others who craft on MSE had I'd be happy
You're an inspiration to people like me to try new things like that!

thanks stardrops i think all the socks i have are stripey i can't seem to find plain ones in the colours i like with the heels and toes in a different colour. i also went to the sewing shop to get more black and white buttons - they had loads of black but no white so ended up with ones that are a very light brown and i'm not so keen on them. the lady in the sewing shop wants my pattern for them and was very impressed that they were made just from socks.0

I've had trouble getting black buttons so have had to get a greyish colour which I prefer to the black now:rotfl: I'm not surprised the lady wants your pattern, your monkeys are gorgeous:DFeb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)

thanks for the nice comments!
stardrops i did wonder about going for different colours, theres a seller on ebay who uses a metalic copper/wine colour and they look fab but where i live is tiny and i'm really restricted to what i can get. i think i'm going to have to start looking online. i also thought about having a rumage thru the charity shops to see if i could pick up clothing with buttons that i could use as the shop here is quite expensive i was charged 70p a metre for florist ribbon last week then when i got into aberdeen i got 100 yards for £1.55 so i know i'm being ripped off!
fee fee the hat is the the hem bit of the sock. i put the sock on the monkeys head then tie a bit of thread round where i think it looks ok then cut about an inch and a half fron where i tied it then cut strips into the excess material it usually curls up on its own. the top is the toe end of the sock with a bit cut out to get the head thru then about a cm from the head hole i cut the slits for the arms. its very much hope for the best lol! the mouth and the nostrils was trial and error, i tried stitching it in and it didn't work out too well, now i use embroidery thread and a big needle its not easy to explain how i do it but i pass the thread thru the back of the snout then over the ooutside of the snout back to where i started then go up the inside of the snout again to do the nostrils coming back again to the start to tie it off. i hope that makes sense?0 -
