it is this part of your post that i have highlighted that inferrs that your monkeys are worth more than ours. i'm not going to argue with you but i'm guessing that seeing as no one thanked you for your post that they also feel the same way. i'm not going to reply any further about your post.0 -

Sorry bluesapphire but I have to admit I read your post the same way Angelkay did. Whilst I haven't made as many as so many others on this thread I started a thread and pretty much set everyone off on a tangent! I know how long it takes to make them, I know how easy/difficult some can be and in my opinion I think your prices are too high, but I am entitled to my opinion.
People on this forum come up with fantastic ways to make things which are as good as, if not better than things being sold in shops/websites, infact I have to admit again in my own opinion that some of the sock monkeys made on this thread by the girls on here are better than some of yours! (this is my opinion)
As for the baby law maybe I am reading it wrong but I took it as you are also saying we are not making these safe for children! ... I have made several all for children including 2 of my own children, my daughter is only 18 months old and she has one! and it has buttons!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

hiya, i think its his wonky leg that put me off him. his (don't know why but he looks like a him) hat and top are from knee length girls socks from asda they look a bit like thos school ones ifkwim. they were 75% off for 3 pairs i was 50p!! i'm useless at explaining things but the part of the sock thats open with the hem bit is the brim of his hat i pinched it together and tied it with some thread leaving about an inch and a half spare after i tied it then cut the extra bit into strips. the toe part of the sock i cut a hole in for his head then a wee bit down cut 2 little holes for his arms and that was his top although it looks a bit like its fraying too much where i cut it so i might have to take it off if it gets worse, hope that made sense?!0

Wow i love all your sock monkeys i just wish i could sew
Hey all, newbie alert. I have made 3 monkeys now and really enjoyed them and I have no talent at sewing at all, I think part of the appeal of handmade toys is that they look handmade and are unique. I used the instructions on the instructable website and the only really awkward bit was sewing on the limbs so that they hung right and were in the right place. I used felt for the eyes, a white circle then a dark one because I thought they looked cuter. I'd totally give it a go Julie, I did my first one by hand and it took ages but it was so worth it for the look on my friend's face when he was given itGod is good, all the time

This is my first attempt, it's not really a sock monkey, more of a monster, made from a trainer sock with a face design on it. I found the socks in Ethel Austin - 50p a pair. The legs, arms, nose, mouth and ears were made from a pair of plain pink ladies ankle socks.
These are the trainer socks :
I also got another pair of these socks in a different style to make sock ducks - I need to get some white socks to make wings.
And here's the wingless sock duck (I think the feet are too big but might be ok once it's got wings):The independent woman's checklist for success :1. Look like a lady, 2. Act like a man, 3. Work like a dogLife instructions : 1. Breathe in, 2. Breathe out, 3. Repeat ad infinitum[strike]2008 - £4k challenge member 063[/strike] gave up halfway thru, not sure I even earned that much, so probably achieved it0
