  • I emailed Innocent Smoothies to compliment them for keeping me nourished when I was ill and couldn't eat. They just said 'Thanks. Glad you're well now'. Was hoping for some coupons!

Its annoying isn't it? I send a compliment email to cathedral city as I read on here they are pretty much guaranteed to offer to send you a MOC for a free block of cheese and hey I quite like CC-instead the person said 'thanks for the compliment; here are our twitter and facebook URLs and will forward this to marketing department'. Maybe the marketing department will decide to send me a coupon but doubt it somehow. I do think its bad that companies are clamping down on giving out coupons and freebies for compliments; but will give them for complaints, just encourages people to make fake complaints IMHO. I know companies don't have a bottomless pit of money to give out this stuff but a little bit of customer service and courtesy goes a long way; brings more custom, and there is no better marketing method than 'word of mouth'. Also I doubt the number of customers who give them any feedback is more than a very tiny handful; surely those customers should be rewarded for their efforts? xx
  • Has any one ever had any success with make up samples?
I have sent e-mails to many make up companies asking if they have foundation samples and those that have replied so far have all said no. I still haven't found a foundation I am satisfied with and I'm am fed up with buying ones I don't like. I buy a different one every time I need a new one, but don't go for the high end ones as I don't know if they will be any good or not whereas I would if I had tried and liked them.
Have been told off in Boots before:o for trying the tester on the side of my face, apparently you're meant to test it on the back of your hand, although the tone and texture of the back of my hand is completely different to my face!
I also don't like the idea of going for a consultation at a make up counter as I'm insecure about my face and hate the idea of someone studying it! Plus they would probably just be trying to sell me their product there and then and I'd need to see if the foundation lasted!

It seems odd to me that there are always shampoo and moisturiser etc samples going around but never foundation. And I genuinely want to try them out to decide what to buy, not just looking for free stuff this time!:A

If anyone knows of any companies who do do foundation samples then I would be very grateful:) I know Estee Lauder had a voucher for a free sample you could get but none of the counters I tried had any in stock.

If you go into body shop they will match a foundation to your skin tone and give you one of their trial pots to take away. I went on the garnier webiste and they sent me three BB testers, went and bought the product in the end as its fab for my sensitive skin
  • i complained to ribena as there product seemed a lot weaker than it used to be, they asked me to return it to them (they sent me and envelope) they replied saying they had tested it and it was fine but sent me £5 in vouchers to apologise!
  • got a £2 voucher for complimenting andrex , just as asda has reduced the price , happy days , nice clean backside for this brummie lol

I wrote a letter to ASDA Direct, complaining about the customer service on their phone line and the fact I received NO notification of my order being delivered to store. A week later I got a phone call apologising and a £20 e-voucher!! A bit cheeky really, as I work for ASDA :rotfl: Anyway, for the price of a stamp I am VERY happy with the result

Lucky you. I complained about a terrible incident where I was shouted at by a member of staff and embarrassed in front of her equally embarrassed colleagues...I didn't even get an apology.
  • I emailed Garnier to say how much I loved their new BB Cream and recieved a £5 voucher in the post! I thought that was incredible amount for a voucher for a small compliment via email :O
  • I complained about my Cadbury Creme egg as it was all chocolate, no Creme and recieved a £2 voucher in the post. Hopefully they accept it at Poundland where a box of 3 eggs is only £1. 6 eggs for the price of 1!

I've also had great sucess with sample requests recently and have pretty much recieved stuff in the post everyday recently. The best companies I have found so far include L'Occatiane, Monu, Green People and Elemis. I used to subscribe to Glossybox but have been trying to cut down on my spending so there was a sample shaped hole in my life that has now been filled thanks to a few emails.
  • Clinique aren't helpful at all. I wanted to try their products but can't get to their counter (where they freely give samples), but they wouldn't send me anything and told me to send a friend on my behalf ...

Shocking! Though in my experience, when you do manage to get to the counter (Not sure how a friend could help as they insist on an analysis of your skin!) the girls are fab and are quite free with the freebies, particularly when you're buying other products. Can always have pots of foundations and sachets, but with purchases they give me big samples (about the size that they give away on the magazines).

Maybe the magazines are a good way for you to try their stuff? Though not exactly a freebie!

Hope you get there in the end, it's worth it, the stuff's good. x
