Complained by email to Beckit about their Dettol battery operated no touch hand wash.
Got an email back with the promise of some vouchers.0 -
Hi folks, I've just spent a little time reading your various successes and am very impressed! So, I wondered if I could benefit from your collective knowledge?
I have recently purchased some Nivea make-up remover wipes, I really like them and would like to compliment Nivea on their product. How should I go about phrasing my compliment? Should I just compliment them, give my reasons and leave it at that, hoping for the best in terms of vouchers or samples? Or should I actually say something about being keen to try samples of their other products? Which have you found works best?
I don't have anything to complain about, but is this the case for complaints as well? Should you state outright that you're looking for remuneration in some form, or would this just antagonise the person who deals with the comment?
I'd like to add that I was very impressed with the person who received £50 from the Halifax for a complaint. Last year I lost my credit card and rang them to cancel it, which they said they had. I found the card a few days later (rolls eyes at self) but put it aside because I was expecting a new one in the post. A week or so went by, so I phoned the Halifax and they told me my old card hadn't been cancelled and was still live! I was blummin' furious! It's too long ago to complain now, I expect, and I didn't take the names of the people who 'cancelled' the card or told me it was still live. But now I know about this section of MSE, all companies should be warned!
Thanks all! Caro0 -

Genuinely complained to young's that breadcrumbs on the Jamie Oliver fish fingers either get soggy, burnt (and then they ooze some nasty bitter liquid!:(), or flake off in large volume and go all over the show no matter how they are cooked (tried 'george formanning' them, grilling them, cooking in the oven on various shelves and at various temperatures, even cheapo value brand fish fingers aren't as bad and I stopped buying them because of this; so youngs sent me a £4 coupon for use on any of their products. Really hope they will take my remarks on board and maybe do some 'lab stuff' to sort the problem. Also finally got round to complaining to clipper they did say if any moisture got into the old jars them going mouldy could easily happen but say they have changed lid design recently and are sending me a full sized jar for free :j. The customer service people of both those companies were lovely.
On the negative side starbucks seem to have completely ignored my complaints about my last visit, staff lazing around leaving the tables in disarray and very rude and messed up my order which is not nice if you went to said starbucks at the end of a more than 2 mile long walk as a reward, and Marigold (they make stock and other health foods) were a bit abrupt and said if I wanted to get bigger sizes of their products I would have to find a health food shop locally and ask them to order it if required (there are no health food shops for miles around, grr) and they don't do coupons because they are a massive capitalist scam basically. xx0 -

I have found it depends on the company but when it comes to compliment letters/emails I do find being really gushing but then asking subtly and politely for samples or money off coupons right at the end is the best approach. When it comes to complaints I just say how disappointed I am and hope they will take my feedback on board as I think it does look a bit fake if you start asking for compensation in the way of coupons or samples xx0 -
