Hi, ive been trying to blag freebies over the past few years , mostly with little succes.

I did however blag myself a gadget called replug from a PR company . Now before you go off writing to PR companies you need to realise they are looking to advertise products for their clients so just asking for a freebie because you like something already wont work. I managed to get myself a freebie because I have a blog and intended to review anything I was sent meaning the product would be getting exposure.

So in short find a PR company and offer them any way you can think of advertising a product for them in return for a freebie and see what they say.

Feel free to share your PR company blagging tactics here.

I have only recently started emailing companies i like. I praise their products, and do mention that if they have some money-off vouchers/coupons lying around, could they send them my way?
I find that i appreciate it more if companies send me vouchers, than actual products. I like the fact that i am saving money by just buying what i normally buy. It is also good for my rather lowly student budget that i have to make stretch as far as possible!!
I must stress i do not just email companies for the sake of possible freebies. I email companies whose products i genuinely love, and buy regularly.
I think it is good to inform companies that you are a regular consumer of their products, as sometimes i feel companies take customers for granted!!
It is good to get a little something back from them, and if you don't ask, you don't get!!!

Hi. Thanks for your useful post. There are quite a few ways I could advertise products for companies.
But, I know it seems silly, what types of PR companies are there? Do I just google search PR companies?

    Thanks.

I complained about a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk that I purchased that was white and powdery. Sent the email on Saturday and received a £2.50 voucher today.

  • i complained to muller about how many chocolate bits were in my yoghurt, was pleased to recieve £5 vouchers today!
  • Having been visiting the Ram Jam Inn on the A1 for decades I found that, IMHO, the standard fell after it was taken over.
I wrote to the owners detailing exactly what I felt was wrong (everything from dirty windows to very specific staffing, menu and presentation concerns) and got back a voucher for a meal for 2.

  • Hi,

Sorry if i've posted this in the wrong place or haven't done it right, but I just had a quick question to see if anyone could suggest the best way to go about it.

Basically I had my daughters feet measured in Clarkes and the girl said they were a 5F, I then took her back and got them measured again as the shoes didn't seem right on her and was told she was barely a 4F. I then was pressurised into buying her another new pair which cost me £28.50 with the cleaning stuff they suggested I buy for them. I decided then that the shoes I bought weren't suitable and thought I would be able to get a refund as I had the receipt they were unworn and it was within 28 days as stated at their tills. When I tried to get my money back the shop assistant was very rude and said that they had been worn outside (which they hadn't) and refused to refund my money, another shop assistant then put my cleaning product back on the shelf and when I told her that that was mine and I had the receipt to prove it she accused me of being a thief until her manager came back and said yes it was mine gave it back and asked me to leave the store or security would be called.

I was just wondering if anyone thinks that I should take this further or just leave it. I am a young mum with MS and £28.50 is a lot of money to me and was just trying to do the right thing for my 15 month old daughter.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, sorry if I sould like i've gone on it just really annoyed me today

    Thanks
