  • Hi amyandjon

Just wanted to say well done on posting up your total debt in your signature. Facing up to what you really owe is hard and takes a lot of courage. Each hurdle is a small step towards being debt free.

I found it helpful to keep a month by month total of the debt to see how much its reducing. Now we're not spending on the CC its good to see the totals falling each month. I actually look forward to getting my CC bills each month to see what the totals are - in fact I generally check on line first to check - How sad is that:o

Ref paying off the smaller bills first. Whilst I completely understanding how getting a few debts off the list is helpful in the motivation stakes it does make sense to target your debt payments at the most expensive debt. This might bring your DFD a month or two closer. Have you tried whatsthecost.com which can help you ID which to pay first.

Good luck and keep up the good work:cool:

Don't fret about it. Rather than looking at the £50k look at the amount paid off. That will increase each month as the £50k decreases.

Someone on another thread was suggesting phoning the cc company to see if they would decrease the interest payments. Certainly couldn't hurt.

At least you tried. Seems unfair that they can't help you when you're struggling but can only help you when you start failing. I would have thought they'd want some interest paid rather than none. Maybe there's a reason I don't run a cc company. I think I'd be very bad at it.

Have fun on the snowball calc and remember to fill in that book.

That's good of your brother. I take it you'll be hiding the money away somewhere and paying him back each month what you can afford. That way you're prepared in advance with no worries for the wedding.

I did similar with my Auntie. I asked to borrow some cash to clear an overdraft so the account would be usable and expected her to say no but she said she'd think about it and talk to her husband and they said yes. Have to make the first payment back to them later this week but I really didn't expect them to agree. Was a big weight off as don't need to worry about that one now. (It's being paid back by the business rather than by us so not in my DMP)

    Good luck.
