Steady amy - you're on the fast-track to burnout.

It's taken you years to accumulate the debt so it is understandable that it will take some time to get back on track.

Ok, so you've been charged interest, but you aren't on a DMP (are you?) so there is a little room to manouver with regards how to reduce the interest you pay. Have you looked at the 0% or LOB cards? Planned how to use both of your credit files to their full potential as you don't have defaults or late payments?

    Don't get angry. Get sneaky!!

Calm down Amy, you'll burst something, possibly Jon.

You're managing great just now! Is that interest more than in previous months?

Also, if the snowball calculator is saying 2 years extra then maybe you'll be debt-free sooner than you think.

A few days ago you were putting £1 or so a day towards a different debt each time. Why not put that towards the wedding? I know others will say clear the debt as the interest is higher but you need a boost you can see just now. It's not a lot of money but it's something visible. Get an online saver if you have internet banking. Most of them you can pay in and out as you please.

Then, if you wish at the end of each month you can pay a chunk off that high interest card, or you have a bit towards your wedding.

Be positive, you can do it!! You are doing it!!!

By the way Annie I'm travelling from Aberdeen to York or Bridlington depending where I can get picked up. I always look for cheap singles since one time I got two 1st class singles to Rugby for £35 each way. Work was paying but it meant it was cheaper than the 2nd class return so they let me go 1st class as I was saving them money. Was great!!!

I can get singles for £31 depending on which time I travel but it's still over £60. If it wasn't for fuel prices I'd hire a car and drive the 5-6 hours as then I wouldn't have to worry about being picked up but that's for a day when I have money to burn. It'd also be a lot cheaper if I got at the train station about 2-3 months in advance but I hadn't planned it at that point as mum is moving house.

  • I've had a good day today really. Found out I've sprained my foot but don't have to rest it which is a good thing. If it gets worse over the next couple of days then I've got a prescription for anti-inflammatories but I have to watch as they can upset your stomach so hopefully the foot will heal. (Been 3 weeks already).

Did some overtime so more pennies in my pocket at the end of Sept.

    Changed the Hydro DD.

Bad point of the day - Can't log into my e-bay account as it says id or password are invalid. They are definately correct and I've e-mailed them with the information yesterday but they haven't e-mailed a reply. They don't have a phone number on their website and when you try the contact us link it asks you to log in!!!! A bit frustrating (I logged as a guest and sent the e-mail). I'm worried as to what's happening with my account as there are a few parcels to send and I need to upload more stuff to sell. My OH found a phone number for them but only open 9-6 which is when I'm at work. Again useless!!

Other than e-bay day has been good. Hope you have a better one tomorrow and good luck with the weigh in. I was up 2lbs today, hopefully will be down again on Saturday (I weigh twice a week).

glad you got a bargain on the train fares, York and Bridlington are my favourite places, i dont live far from York (Ripon) and often go and do the touristy bit and the shopping is great.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Just found your diary and just checking in to say best of luck!

Re the wedding - how large a wedding are you planning on? OH and myself (5 years ago - nearly 6 :j) decided we didn't want to do the all out frills and major party bit as we were paying for it ourselves - so we booked into a hotel that did weddings, got the registrar and did an a la carte menu lunchtime meal for the immediate family only.

Original cost (big all frills wedding) £8,000
    Actual cost (budget style!) £900

    No brainer really! :rotfl:

    Hi Amy,

thought I'd come and catch up with your diary since you've been kind enough to keep up with me :)

Are you on holiday from work or are you going somewhere, to stay with relatives abroad?

Either way hope you get to relax and try not to think too hard about those debts, stressing about it doesn't make them any smaller!

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?
