If she bought it and wore it then she should suck it up and keep it.

I am also aware of people who buy items and keep the labels in when they wear them spefically to take them back for a refund afterwards.

I am a stong believer in buyers keeping their side of a contract. If you bought it, wore it and have no reason to return it other than you no longer want it or wish to turn a penny on it, then you should keep it.

If it's on sale a week later, that is tough. Suck it up!
  • Absolutely no doubt. Have even taken things back if I've worn the original one - by buying a new one at the reduced price, and taking it back with the older, full price receipt. Obviously its got to be within the accepted returns period but don't see there's a problem with it.
  • I have actually done something similar when i found a bikini top in the next outlet shop for £7 when i had bought it full price for £16 in the week before. As it was unworn i saw nothing wrong with it!

  • I have done this many times. I don't even bother to buy the reduced item at first. I just go with my original purchase and receipt to the customer service desk and ask for the price difference. Last week I took a light fitting back to Homebase. They just refunded me the difference.
If the refund is not forthcoming I simply buy the sale item in the sale and return the original purchase in the same transaction.
Most stores rip us off. You have to be as hard faced as they are.

I've done this plenty of times, though not with clothes (never needed to rather than any other reason).

I once bought the same BBQ 3 times from a certain DIY store as it kept getting reduced. Every time it went down in price I bought it again and took it back the same day with the receipt for the previous one.

If the item in question is a gift you have received but don't want, and you don't like to ask the giver for the receipt, you can often change it or get a credit note by returning it. The trouble here is that if the item has gone into the sale by the time you return it, you will only get the sale price back.

If you have the receipt you WILL get the FULL amount back NOT the sale amount, as you have proof that the item was paid for at the full price. The only time they give you the sale price back is when you have no proof that you did not buy it at the sale price.

Little Miss - I do use this site to try and save money and will use legal loopholes where I can. But i'm not in the 'everybody else does it so why shouldn't I brigade'.
Why not take the original item back and ask for a price match?
