MONEY MORAL DILEMMA. Should Kate return a sale frock with a full price receipt?

Absolutely....if there's a loophole like this in the return policy, she should take advantage of it. "Consumer revenge" as it says right at the top of this website.0

I grew up on a dodgy estate and one of the scams I remember as a kid was quite similar to this, except you buy an item from shop A and then take it back to another shop for argument sake say shop B for a return, but here's the clever part you look in shop B's bins for the greater value reciept and buy said item for around £10-£20 less at shop A. Then take item back for a return to shop B for a full refund. This is very much the same and is easily done as people throw away receipt like it's a disease.Last Win: Tuff Mudder Tickets and 2 cases of wine :j0

GAP have a policy where if an item you bought goes in the sale within 14 days of you paying full price then you just take the reciept in and they will refund the difference.0

I've done it before and would do it again.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0

I'd be annoyed that it was now in the sale and I would consider taking the first dress back. But to buy one at £25 and expect to take THAT dress back for £50 isn't something I would ever have considered. it seems really dishonest! esp if the first dress is at home worn already! If this was an ok thing to do then surely we would all keep our receipts on us just in case we saw the item cheaper. I could be wearing the dress then go in to the shop buy a replacement and give the receipt for the dress I was wearing in exchange for the sale item and make money on it! NOW I understand those little cuts and red dots.0

I had a similar problem with Faith a month or so ago, bought some shoes and put them away for my hols. When I came to pack them I discovered one was a size 6 and the other a 5! So I rang my nearest branch and explained the situation and also that I was a couple of days over the 28 limit. They were really helpful and told me to come down and swap them no problem. When I got there they were on the sale rack with £15 off. I asked if I could get the difference back but they refused so I just took the new pair and left. The more I thought about it however, the more wound up I got - I'd had to travel over 10 miles each way through no fault of my own and granted, they were doing me a favour as I was outside the time frame, but having worked in retail myself, I would have thought that as a goodwill gesture at the very least they would have offered me the difference. So, I donned my consumer crusader cape (!) and wrote to their head office, am pleased to say that I came back from my hols to find a cheque for £15 and a £10 gift voucher. Only problem is I'm going to end up spending a fortune trying to spend the voucher!0

Sorry, but yes I do think she should go and get a refund. Not a nice thing to do but it is so infuriating when this happens. As long as she takes back the dress which has not been worn it is ok.0

I would buy the sale dress and take it home (just in case my size sells out) and return with the unworn full price dress for the refund. I wouldn't try and use the sale dress with the full price receipt. That would be completely wrong.
I have sometimes bought a couple of dresses for an event to try on at home with the right undies, high heels etc also to ask OH opinion as he hates shopping centres and taken back the one I wasn't going to use with no problem - all stores I have used have been totally fine with this and as I have had the receipt I just got the refund in the way that I paid for the item.
Mind you after getting the refund I'd probably look in that same store for shoes and a bag or some accessories so they may well get that £25 back!
Oh but I might not tell OH about the refund...0 -

That seems fair to us, but from a retailer's point of view thats madness!
losing money by reducing the original price and then offering to pay back the difference to customers who paid that full price! ok so not many people will do that as I'm sure we all wait until it's a decent sale price anywaybut the more people who are aware of it will take advantage and so they should!

Quite honestly, I don't think I could be bothered with all that faffing about!
And £50 on a dress . . . purrlease, what kind of shop is that anyway?. . . there's debt you have to pay, and debt you can get away with . . know the difference . . they can't hang you for it!!!0
