Ikea Family Mobile PAYG 9p/min calls and 6p texts

I have had the same contract for about 8 years (a pay after you go service from Orange) as there has never been anything better until I noticed a leaflet from Ikea.
They are doing 9p per minute for calls and 6p for texts which sounds good - no deals packages or alternatives, just one product so I think Ill try it. Anyone tried this package? No idea what the quality of service is like.

Asda are trumping this on 1st September, with 8p calls and 4p texts. Asda run off the Vodafone network, Ikea off of the T-mobile network.0

this is only true if you call more then 3 minutes (I think) if you are a low user the IKEA offering is much better!Who needs a sig!!! :rotfl:0

We have just transferred to Family Mobile and my wife says she is having problems sending texts.
Sometimes 3 attempts to send it,anyone else having probs?.........0 -
Wow, nice to see Asda have come along and beat Ikea!
Not sure who remembers easyMobile... But easyMobile came along and 'Fresh' from the carphonewarehouse cut their prices, so did easyMobile.... then Fresh again. Fresh kept under cutting easyMobile.
easyMobile eventually went under... and ended up handing all of their customers over to Fresh!
I guess Ikea's mobile service may disappear just like easyMobile's did...
For now though, for low users, Asda is looking very good! .. From 1st Sept.
I think one of two parties that were involved with Easymobile are behind Ikea.
The interface is very similar to EasyMobiles and they also let you get overdrawn
Easy & Tele Denmark were behind Easymobile.
Ikea & Tele Denmark appear to be behind Ikea Mobile.
It also lists things in Danish such as Kr for price, and Saldo for balance. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Asda sim is £2.48 direct from them with a pound on it. Does anyone know any way of getting it cheaper/free?Val

From the press release from Asda, it says "Most people already have a mobile phone. To join ASDA Mobile, customers who are happy with their current handset, can get a SIM Card free when bought with a £5 top-up.", but the asda-phones.co.uk website looks like it hasn't been updated to the new tariff yet.InsuranceLiability wrote: »Asda sim is £2.48 direct from them with a pound on it.
