Hi
I overheard 2 IKEA guys talking about launching a new Mobile Sim Only PAYG deal for their IKEA FAMILY loyalty members in a couple of weeks time.
One of them was really into it (probably the manager....) and the other wasnt quite getting it!
Does anyone know anything on this one yet?

Ikea Family Mobile PAYG 9p/min calls and 6p texts
They claim to have the lowest prices in the UK. (http://www.familymobile.co.uk/uk-prices)
Full details:

That's a great deal.
definately the cheapest in relation to X-net calls and texts. Cheapest and most-suited for low-end users.
Otherwise PAYG with top-up rewards or PAYM tend to offer better deals for higher users.

EDIT:
Some BAD things:
ROAMING Our prices to use your phone while you're abroad reflect the charges made by overseas mobile operators and are beyond our control.
Very odd, they cannot quote abroad prices - can therefore be very expensive. [though i think within Europe they are not allowed to charge more than the current max which is 38p/min to make a call, 19p/min to receive]
for 0845/0870 it says to look at their price guide, links to it, then doesn't show the call costs.
80p/Mb of data is cheap, but no good if you use a lot. There appear to be no bundles.
23p for an MMS is ok. Some networks you can use from incl. sms (o2) others have bundles for cheaper.
Doesn't look like you can do 3G video calls (no price quoted)
some GOOD things
Flat rate cheap calls + texts (9p/min, 6p /text)
Possibility to have your credit refunded (although there is a £5 charge).
No min. top-up required to benefit from the tariff prices.
16p SMS abroad (think most networks are 20-25p)

Just been through the signup process and you can choose your own number. Some good ones available at this early stage if you want an easy to remember number (although admittedly the 07942 code is not the easiest) - for example:
07942 82 83 84
07942 822 123
07942 982 282
07942 981 980
07942 800 181
07942 98 97 96
07942 97 98 99
07942 819 812
07942 900 247
07942 908 908
07942 909 9090 -

got an e-mail from ikea today launching a new pay as you go mobile service, Family Mobile. Seems cheap enough, though it only seems to be available to Ikea Family card holders. Details are as follows:
A fantastic new benefit for IKEA FAMILY members.
At IKEA FAMILY, we're dedicated to finding great new ways to make life run that bit more smoothly. So we're very excited to tell you that we have partnered with Mobile Partners UK to offer Family Mobile - the UK's lowest priced Pay As You Go mobile service. And it's available EXCLUSIVELY to IKEA FAMILY members.
It's one of the simplest Pay As You Go services in the UK and it's certainly the lowest priced. Why? Because you'll pay just 9p a minute for any UK call and 6p per UK text. That makes it at least 25% cheaper than any comparable Pay As You Go.
Five simple reasons to sign up now:
- 9p a minute for UK calls and 6p for UK texts
- Free SIM card
- No minimum spend
- No contract
- No monthly fees
